Porsche vs Corvette......

What does this do to the credibility of this publication? We all knew the numbers, but to have it published in a Porsche centric magazine, what were they thinking. Exellence, you just tattooed a chink in the armour.

Controversy equals publicity, publicity is a good thing. Get people talking, that's what you want.

That said, I think the original post is missing something.

The Corvette guys will have a feild day with this. I agree it does open up conversation, but to say you lost by one of your own, makes it a harder pill to swallow.

Well, the GT2 is down 100 horsepower to the ZR1 so it should come as no surprise on a track like Infineon. Driver Johannes von Overbeek did note that if the ZR1 wore the GT2's Cup tires, it could be worth another two seconds.

For so many years the Corvette was a joke. The ZR1 is an amazing car, especially for the price.

Corvette has inched its way to be a true contender to the Porsche marque ever since the C5 was introduced, which uses the same drivetrain layout as the 928/924/944.

It just took them 20+ years to catch on.

I believe this publisher also has a Corvette magazine in the same format as Excellence.

Maybe this article will also be in the Corvette magazine.

likely right and I have to admit, this car is an amazing piece from the Bow tie brigade. It's got a whack like no other but the build quality keeps it a few steps back. I must admit they are pretty intoxicating for they're shear pace.

I saw a similar analysis in one of the other big car mags, in some kind of a "best car for the track" special. In the one I saw they compared the ZR1 to a "regular" carrera 911. Maybe they were trying to keep the car cost < $100K or something , but needless to say the Porsche got it azz handed to it.

If Excellence published an article saying the ZR1 beat a Porsche GTx, them more power to them. It is what it is folks. The ZR1 is one awesome car, and deserves the recognition.

That article is just one of the reasons why I love Excellence. When Porsche loses they're not afraid to say it. Sorry folks but that GT2 was eaten for breakfast.

I'm hoping they'll do the Cadillac CTS V versus Porsche Pano test. I'm afraid the Panamera will get eaten alive but it should make interesting reading.

Me,

I like a lot of different cars. If you can afford it find an inexpensive Vette (I found a nice 77 over the summer for 3 g's) and drive the Porsche one day and the Vette the next.
With the economy how it is people are unloading their cars for cheap money to pay rent.
You then can experience the pleasure of both.
You can't live on oranges only. You will eat an apple or grapes or strawberries, etc.
Both great cars depending on the years.

Enjoyed the honesty of the article.

STILL would pay $80k for a used GT3 vs. $35k for a Vette.....if i had the $$.

STILL wouldn't trade my 40yr old 170hp 911 for a spanking new Vette (unless I could sell it!).

The only question for me is, which one would I rather live with. The Excellence article gave me my answer.
