pwd72s 01-18-2010 10:50 AM

LOL...Agreed. Socal should remain the mythical land that the beach boys sang about...

Dueller 01-18-2010 10:57 AM

dipso 01-18-2010 11:09 AM

This is horrible! My swimming pool is going to overflow and my I'm getting water on my roof!
Help! My sidewalk is all wet!
The cushions on my chaise lounge are soaked!

Poor me, poor me, pour me a cocktail.

KevinP73 01-18-2010 11:18 AM

Next thing you know we'll be seeing pictures of overturned plastic lawn chairs.........

What trauma! If it is raining in SoCal then where will the Pac Northwesterners go to escape the moss!

-OR-

Where ever we go we will feel at home... =)

strupgolf 01-18-2010 12:05 PM

Imagine that, RAIN, oh my god, what's a person to do? It can't be, no no no no.

Noah930 01-18-2010 12:12 PM

I drove by your shop yesterday afternoon. Did I see your truck in front? Were you really at work on a Sunday afternoon?

In other thread-related news, I've now got a swimming pool in the backyard.

mikester 01-18-2010 12:21 PM

Ahhhhh! My ROOF IS WET!!!

daepp 01-18-2010 12:24 PM

Yeah - it's rainy here in the I.E. But it's still 60 degrees!

Even hiking on Saturday - at least Sacramento has thus far failed to ruin the weather (but give them time!):

Discovered a waterfall at about the hottest time of the day - I think it got to about 80:

Yesterday I took the Targa top off and went for a drive. Unfortunately, I did get a little sun burned (no kidding), and I am chasing an oil leak...

Perhaps our leadership will take pitty and send the PPR of California $100 million or two to help them through this devastation. Money will fix it. It fixes everything.

Where is the compassion???

varmint 01-18-2010 02:08 PM

there's water an inch deep on the street outside.

a news crew is filming people as they walk across.

Noah930 01-18-2010 02:14 PM

Wait! There's sunlight streaming into my office! Hallelujah! We're saved! We're saved!

rnln 01-18-2010 02:25 PM

and I am in the middle working on my cars. I am at nowhere in my long list yet.

Seahawk 01-18-2010 02:32 PM

On a serious side, growing up in the coastal mountains on a ranchette, when these storms pressed in we were ditching like you read about, trying to get the water off and down so the earth didn't move. Really.

When I was in the eighth grade my Mom showed up at a dance at school and made me and my buddy Bill get in the truck to help ditch. My Dad was on a business trip and she needed help. I didn't have a better offer...

We'd walk the trenches, wet now but dry for all memory, and clear them of the detritus, get the water off.

Odd, after 40 years, I can recall the night vividly.

Best of luck.

SoCal911T 01-18-2010 03:16 PM

Waaay too nasty to be out.
I stayed inside and honored Martin Luther King with a roaring fire, the DVR and a pitcher of bloody marys.:)

crustychief 01-18-2010 03:42 PM

Actually the unfinished waterfall for the koi pond I am building just slid down the hill.

VaSteve 01-18-2010 03:50 PM

I'm in Phoenix right now and they are apoloigizing for the weather. It poured all day yesetrday at home after abour 3 weeks of sub freezing temps. No apology necessary. LOL

Jim Richards 01-18-2010 05:54 PM

Nice day here today.

450knotOffice 01-18-2010 06:26 PM

Well I was flying in this stuff today and it wasn't your normal run of the mill storm. Once the main part of the storm came through, We had to deal with 30+ knot crosswinds on the ground from the south for take off and landing (increasing to 50+ knots just 2000 feet above the ground), low ceilings, and HEAVY rain. Ridge level winds were 80 knots!

Tomorrow's storm is supposed to be weak compared to this one, but Thursday's is supposed to be stronger than today's was...and I'm flying.

James Brown 01-18-2010 06:27 PM

Still raining in Washington, and still driving in it, and still dark!

Just think how clean your air and streets will be after it stops raining, at least for 15 min.

pwd72s 01-18-2010 06:31 PM

Hoping the LA River doesn't hit flood stage...

VINMAN 01-18-2010 06:42 PM

Tool
Aenima lyrics

Some say the end is near.
Some say we'll see armageddon soon.
I certainly hope we will.
I sure could use a vacation from this

Bull**** three ring circus sideshow of
Freaks

Here in this hopeless ****ing hole we call LA
The only way to fix it is to flush it all away.
Any ****ing time. Any ****ing day.
Learn to swim, I'll see you down in Arizona bay.

Fret for your figure and
Fret for your latte and
Fret for your lawsuit and
Fret for your hairpiece and
Fret for your prozac and
Fret for your pilot and
Fret for your contract and
Fret for your car.

It's a
Bull**** three ring circus sideshow of
Freaks

Here in this hopeless ****ing hole we call LA
The only way to fix it is to flush it all away.
Any ****ing time. Any ****ing day.
Learn to swim, I'll see you down in Arizona bay.

Some say a comet will fall from the sky.
Followed by meteor showers and tidal waves.
Followed by faultlines that cannot sit still.
Followed by millions of dumbfounded dip****s.

Some say the end is near.
Some say we'll see armageddon soon.
I certainly hope we will cuz
I sure could use a vacation from this

Stupid ****, silly ****, stupid ****...

One great big festering neon distraction,
I've a suggestion to keep you all occupied.

Learn to swim.
Learn to swim.
Learn to swim.

Mom is going to fix it all soon,
Mom is coming round to put it back
The way it oughtta be...

Learn to swim.

**** L Ron Hubbard and
**** all his clones.
**** all these gun-toting
Hip gangster wannabes.

Learn to swim.

**** retro anything.
**** your tattoos.
**** all you junkies and
**** your short memory.

Learn to swim.

**** smiley glad-hands
With hidden agendas.
**** these dysfunctional,
Insecure actresses.

Learn to swim.

Cuz I'm praying for rain
And I'm praying for tidal waves
I wanna see the ground give way.
I wanna watch it all go down.
Mom please flush it all away.
I wanna see it go right in and down.
I wanna watch it go right in.
Watch you flush it all away.

Time to bring it down again.
Don't just call me pessimist.
Try and read between the lines.

I can't imagine why you wouldn't
Welcome any change, my friend.

I wanna see it all come down.
Suck it down.
Flush it down.

sailchef 01-18-2010 08:00 PM

Here ya go, try one of these. Keep the water off me thingys

They are fairly easy to operate.

aigel 01-18-2010 09:26 PM

It amazes me how much I hate the stuff. There is a whole week of it left, according to the weather forecast!

George

sammyg2 01-19-2010 06:29 AM

You guys can make light of it if you want, but we got 1 1/2" of rain here yesterday.
Yes we survived, but it was touch and go there for a while!

Danimal16 01-19-2010 06:36 AM

My pool overflowed!!!!

My car has mud on it!!!

s_morrison57 01-19-2010 06:56 AM

That's not rain, that's a light mist where I am, in the jungle and we had over 4 inches yesterday and it fell in 2 dumps, total of about an hour

dd74 01-19-2010 10:02 AM

Ummm...it was nasty. Trees blew down on top of cars and in houses, power lines went down, intersections were flooded, people were trapped in their cars.

And that was supposed to be the appetizer. Weds-Thurs is supposed to be the main course.

BTW: rain and mudslides have big effect on a lot of people out here. A mudslide actually helped push a portion of Pacific Coast Highway like twenty feet toward the ocean (Big Rock, near where Duke's is/was).
