what book did you last read/recommend?
the "how much do you read thread" brought this topic to mind.
i am always curious about what folks are reading. i read almost any genre, so nearly everything interests me. the last book i read was "bangkok haunts". its pulp, really, but fun reading. the fourth book in a series, it offers more of the same gritty bangkok police noir. darell

Cathedral of the Sea - Ildefonso Falcones. Think of it like a Spanish version of the Follett books. Gives a nice insight into medieval Barcelona. I liked it.

On The Road, Jack Kerouac, I read it about ten years ago and just wanted to read it again. Not quite half way through, I like it still.

Assegai - The latest historical fiction novel from Wilbur Smith. He writes mostly about the African continent. Kind of like jakes in that he follows families over several centuries, but he uses several books to do it instead of one.

"Go Like Hell" A. J. Baime
Read almost the whole book during a short 5hr visit to the local VA ER w/ dad, passed the book along to my brother today who will like it even though he's not a big reader. It was easy to read w/ interruptions - talk to doctor, go to x-ray, etc.

I don't read books much anymore but one that I found fascinating was"The turnaround kid" by Steve Miller. He was hired at Delphi to get them through the bankruptcy.
Delphi were a customer of ours so it was interesting to read another side of the story. I liked the personal side of it.

I just finished re-reading Atlas Shrugged for grins. And, unless I see something new within the next few days that interests me more I'll be re-reading A Confederacy of Dunces next.

I am almost finished with Raymond Carver: A Writer's Life which I would highly recommend if you like Carver's work. Before that was The Victorian Internet, and before that Our Story Begins which is an anthology of Tobias Wolff.

"The Road to Serfdom" by FA Hayek; shortly after completing it I recommended it to several (GA) politicians. Surprisingly, many have said they are reading it.
