website gurus, need suggestions on software

I need a new, inexpensive web developer program. MS Expressions?

I've finally got around to upgrading my computer but had some setbacks. Much of my old software won't work with this new OS (windows 7). My website could use some work but I can't reinstall my old MS Office 2003 with Frontpage. I'm looking for something that'll work just as easy as I'm not well versed in things computer.

Thanks,

Office 03 is compatible with Win 7. If you are having trouble installing, please list the issues.

An installation method that often works is to copy the disc to the hard drive, then install.

You can run just about anything in win 7 (if you really need to) by using a Virtual Machine.

Windows 7 Pro and Ultimate come with a free version called XP Mode which also includes a copy of XP. Sun Virtual Box is free, works very well but requires your own copy of XP.

With a virtual machine setup, you can now install anything XP compatible - even old printers.

Honestly, based on your current site and what it is that you do I'd go look into an Open Source CMS, find a theme you like and go from there. There's Joomla but I find it to be a bit "heavy, cumbersome" in areas. Or just get WordPress and install a gallery module.

Both are Open Source, free. Admin is all web based so your operating system is not an issue and there are huge support communities for both.

I like Coffee Cup. It's cheap and seems fairly full featured and simple to use. It works with Vista 64bit. Can't say for sure about 7.

But then, I wouldn't call myself a guru by any stretch. I'm a technical guy that's made a few web pages. I've done frames and tables. One of these days, I'm going to have to learn style sheets.
