Another Weird Dream
So last night I dreamed that I was driving my old MB 300D (frequent dream of mine, I only owned that car for 2 years, 10 years ago, and I still miss it).
Anyway, I am on the on-ramp to an interstate following a pickup truck towing a boat. There is a long line of cars behind me and the truck is plodding along at like 30 mph. Finally, it starts to accelerate. I start to accelerate. Next thing I know, the truck has come to a dead stop on the on-ramp. I have no time. I crash into the boat, I crash through the fiberglass boat, it acts like a ramp and I get airborne. I land on the pickup truck, but not perfectly in line; I land half the car's width to the left. I roll to the left. I roll into the ditch. When the car has stopped, I am facing the truck and the decimated boat. As I survey the accident scene, I see that the car behind me stopped in time not to hit me or the boat, but the car behind it did not and rear-ended the car behind me. In fact, it looks like a chain-reaction crash all the way down the on-ramp. I woke up a little shaken up, because the accident felt extremely realistic. What a strange dream!

The thing is, I pride myself on being able to accurately predict what other drivers are going to do before they do it. Anyone who rides a motorcyle has to be able to do this.
For example, the other day, I was at a red light headed north. The light in the southbound direction turned green and a few cars took a left in front of me. Then the light turns green in my direction. I creaped into the intersection at >5 mph because I saw an SUV hurtling towards the intersection in the left lane. Sure enough, he pulls into the left turn lane and tries to take a left in front of me (he no longer has the green arrow). I come to a complete stop and LAY on my horn. I see that he is talking on his cell phone and oblivious to the near head-on collision he has almost caused. Then, suddenly, he realizes what he has done and swerves back into the southbound lanes, nearly hitting my front end and causing traffic behind him to have to slam on the brakes. I guess what really bothered me about the dream was that I didn't predict that the truck with the boat would stop, and wasn't prepared for it.

The part of your dream that is most important is that you were not injured. You crashed, flew in the air and rolled that car. Then got out and surveyed the damage. I suspect that you hold the crash-protection abilities of that car in very high regard and that you're subconscious is trying to send enough messages to justify buying another.
Or maybe it's just a whacked dream - LOL! angela

I had to find a repair shop, you know. ![]() Most of my dreams are pretty surreal, which is why the realistic segments really stick out to me.

Your dream is caused by you earlier real life incident. You're just reaffirming your defensive actions on the street the other day. Probably because you have lingering thoughts of what might have happened if you didn't have good defensive driving skills (riding motorcycles is great for this).

I had a dream a number of years ago that I was following a tanker truck full of gas and rear ended it. Brakes failed. I was doing a long commute at the time.
To this day I will not follow a tanker truck. I also quit that job at the first opportunity. |
