James Burke : Connections
This has to be one of my all time favorite shows. Created in 1978, I first saw it in the late 80s I think. Wiki on the series:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Connections_(TV_series) On youtube now. Starts off kind of slow (different era) and it's not until 3 of 5 in Episode 1 that you start to get a flavor and not until 4 of 5 that you see where the series is going, will take you. Significant time investment, each segment is 10 minutes, 5 segments per episode, but worth it if you like history and science and everything. Starting off, 1 of 5 of Episode 1 3 of 5 4 of 5

Yep - remember the series well and loved it. Burke's book was a textbook for a course at Ga Tech years ago.

Agreed, great show. My son and I would watch together when he was young. I believe he has all the shows on VHS.

I remember watching a few episodes of a more modern version of this show... I love it.
In particular I remember an episode that involved the connection between heavy water in a Polish lake to Bananas in the Caribbean to some ancient machines built in rome etc etc etc... It all eventually goes back to the atomic bomb. Always.
