Targa 911S FTW!!! |
Go to walymart and find some clip ons for $10. you can wear them as sunglasses and see better too. You will be amazed at the scratches the clip ons will get and you replace them for $10 instead of the $XXX glasses. They carry about 10 shapes and sizes for best fit and tint color. Not at the Optometrist ($XX), but in the sunglass area.

Definition: Astigmatism occurs when incident light rays do not converge at a single focal point. Total refractive astigmatism can be divided into corneal (or keratometric) astigmatism, lenticular astigmatism, and retinal astigmatism. Most astigmatism is corneal in origin. Cornea = clear front part of the eye.
ASTIGMATISM Full correction may not be needed for individuals with regular astigmatism. Adults with astigmatism may not accept full cylindrical correction in their first pair of eyeglasses or in subsequent eyeglasses if their astigmatism has been only partially corrected. In general, substantial changes in axis or power are not well tolerated. (above from American Academy of Ophthalmology) If your astigmatism is oriented in the vertical or horizontal meridians you will likely adapt reasonably soon (between a week and a month) and well. At an oblique axis (say 135 or 45 degrees) adaptation seems to take longer and may require a return visit to change to partial correction for better comfort. Good luck |
I have a (fairly) mild case of astigmatism also, particularly in one eye. My brain can make the adjustment but sometimes it gets tired and visual acuity suffers, so I wear glasses. When putting the glasses on for the first time, it looks like horizontal surfaces are very much slanted. Freaks people out when I invite them to look through my glasses. But.....after a few days your brain will adjust and the horizontal-tilting effect went away. Horizontal surfaces now look level to me, whether my glasses are on or off. The brain is an interesting thing. Psychologists once made and wore, 24/7, glasses that turned everything upside down. After a few days, their brains made the adjustment.
