Thinking of taking the wife and 22 year old daughter to the Mandalay Bay, Vegas
The reason I chose the Mandalay Bay is the many choices of suites.
I can get a 1 BR 800 square foot suite for about 650 for 3 nights. Any better ideas? The restaurants are $$$ but many choices. Tabs???

Mandalay has a nice pool.
If the price is right and you 'really' want to do the strip thing, then I don't think it matters where you stay. There's the monorail, etc. and half of the so-called-fun is walking anyway. ALL the restaurants in ALL the strip hotels are going to be $$$.

I had my wedding at the Mandalay Bay, but I ended up staying and having the reception at the Ventian. Why? The rooms (at least in the older section) weren't anything special and I had to go through 3 rooms before we had a decent one (vomit in one, oil stains like someone had a Harley in it, in the other). This was 2003/2004.
Mandalay Bay has the best wedding chapel on the strip.

We stayed at Mandalay Bay and THEhotel behind M-B. Both are very nice, with great layouts. Good shops and restaurants and a very good casino. It's also nice being on the end of The Strip - less traffic, noise, etc.

Some rooms @ mandaley give you a great view of area 51 airlines as well. Another plus, for me that is, there's an in-n-out burger just across the freeway. Mmmmm!

My question is why do you want to be a TYPICAL TOURIST...read that as RUBE....the Strip is always crowded and expensive....
If I wanted to stay at a place that was about as nice as the Wynn...I would go to the Station casinos Red Rock Resort it is their flagship property..very nice and going to be fewer $$$ and less hectic... it is located at the top of Charleston...drive west on Charleston and you get a nice scenic drive through the canyon...go east or hit the 215 Beltway and in 10 minutes your on the Strip. Red Rock casino is always hopping on Friday and Saturday nights....lots of upscale locals and Rubes. It also has a great Poker Room btw...

Brought the family out a few years ago for a PCA club race...Wife and son watched as a guy launched onto the veranda from 1 of the floors above our room. He made a mess up there...just missed 1 of those big azzed lights. Surprised Snipe didn't offer to take your daughter to Vegas

The new development (Cityplace...I think it's called) is quite nice and 5 star all the way. I stayed at the Vdara (Aria) for a week over the holidays and they have good deals going on because it's new. It's also "connected" to the Belagio. I'm pretty sure Vdara is an all suites hotel. Because it's new don't leave anything of value laying around because they're still sorting out the bad apples in housekeeping. Don't ask how I know....
