Buying software on ebay?
Looking at a couple major software purchases soon, and I had a look on ebay and found them at significantly lower than retail prices (eg. $300 for $600 retail). Read through the fine print, no weird stuff (such as educational discounts, etc) just the regular thing, brand new, in box, 99-100% positive feedback, with thousands of transactions. Still seems a bit fishy to me. Anyone have any experience with this? Too good to be true?

What software are you looking for? I should ask my wife. She works for Symantec / Norton. I wonder if she could set up a group buy.

ebay - probably too good to be true.
I bet it's the same type outfit that "sells" Porsche service manuals on CD's.

If you stick to reputable sellers, it's okay...
My dad has bought some SW from Ebay, most recent was a family 3 pack of Windows 7 Home Premium. It was totally legit.

A few years ago my dad was looking for a copy of Windows 98 to help revive a friend's old computer. He found what he was looking for, seller told him he was in the U.S. and it was a licensed, boxed version of the software. He buys it...
4 weeks later he gets a burned CD from Russia.

There ARE some good S-W sellers on ebay.
I've bought several versions of autocad. License, key, manuals all there in correct box. |
