Your favorite revolver?

Bad weather and a nasty cough/fever have kept me from getting a second date with my newly aquired S&W 27-2 so i resort to daydreaming.

So, what is your favorite revolver? Smoothest action, nicest factory trigger, etc.

I believe we all make mistakes but I will not validate your poor choices and/or perversions and subsidize the results your actions.

I'm waiting on my wood Hogue grips for my S&W 27-1. I think it's a 1. The serial number dates it to 1958 or so. Haven't had the pleasure of even shooting it yet.
Anyway. Probably the revolver I liked the most was my model 29. Scoped, blued, 8/3/8" barrel.
The smoothest action was a nickel plated Colt Python. 3" groups at 50 yards. It was full polished so in sun light at the right, (wrong), angle you would get a bad reflection. But a beautiful, beautiful and accurate gun.

Colt Single Action Army in .45 Colt, hands down. If you can lay your hands on a good one, they are a real gem. First or second generation or the brand new (like in the last year) production are the ones to get. Third generation is kind of an embarassment, action and general fit and finish wise, but if you have one of those and get it tuned by someone who knows his stuff, they are just fine as well.

The older I get the more I realize I don't need some big blasting magnum, nor do I need more than five shots. The .45 Colt is a reasonably powerful round that, when handloaded, will take care of anything a true handgun should ever be called upon to do. I've killed a myriad of animals with it, up to very large mule deer, with never a problem, using standard velocity loads. The Peacemaker is not too big for concealed carry in the fall and winter, and not too heavy for backpacking or day hiking. Couldn't ask for more than that from a handgun.

The nicest revolver i ever owned was a Ruger Blackhawk, unfluted cylinder, super high gloss blued with custom wooden grips and a mag na ported 8 3/8" barrel with a Tasco propoint red dot sight.

Ooooh, and i had a Virginia Dragoon in stainless too.

The Peacemaker is like a fine cut of filet mignon. The Ruger is a chunk of meatloaf.

I do have a pretty good pile of Rugers and like them all, but they remain Rugers. Hell for stout, reliable as the day is long, acceptably accurate, but horribly clunky actions coupled with the worst triggers ever to burden a single action (in the two screw transfer bar version).

One of my all-time favorites. The Virginian Dragoon is a far higher quality revolver than the Blackhawk, which is saying a lot. They are fantastic as a hunting revolver for very heavy loads. Kind of big and heavy for anything else, though. I'm still looking for one in .45 Colt to round out my collection.

Including the Vaquero models?

Handled one at a local shop not long ago and thought the action was pretty smooth but was comparing to Uberti single actions that were comparably awful.

Don't own a revolver. I have looked at some Colt police positives and have been tempted. I'm really in the market for a nice Colt woodsman.

I HATE my "wife's" Colt Peacemaker .22 and would sell it in a heartbeat if she would let me. I can't hit shiit with the little bastard and hate the way it fits in my hand. If it was not worth something, I would grind the d@mn front sight at minimum and probably eff with the barrel shoulder to get it to hit "close" point of aim at least. Her Ruger Blackhawk .44 magnum at least has adjustable sights and fits the hand better.

I know there are many revolver lovers here and different strokes and all that, but I simply don't get any enjoyment from messing with revolvers.

I bet you meant 686.
I wouldn't expect someone with beretta in their handle to be asking about revolvers but since you asked, I'll pick the revolver in this picture.

Not the best photo but it's a S&W 1917 .45 ACP, US Property under the barrell but has British proof marks (perhaps some sort of Lend-Lease thing). Old grips but not correct. Not sure why it appeals to me, just feels nice I guess.

Every time I think of getting a concealed carry permit, I think of a classic Smith snubby in .38 special...

Agree w/ Jim.
S&W Model 1917, .45 ACP.

It's a bit small for the hand, but a great shooter.
What's not to love about moon clips?

Mine was built in October 1918
