I hear ya on the Lock problem. I guess Jacob didn't bring Locke back to life... but it did seem that way.
And how does the lunchbox play into Kate's back story? I remember Jacob giving it to her, but I don't recall the significance of it.
She and her childhood "boyfriend" buried the model airplane in it under the tree (he was with her when she stole it, then had Jacob take care of that). Years later, they dug it up. Then, she left him for dead after the car crash while running from the cops. It's been the physical manifestation of her childhood relationship, the only person she's really loved ever, and the one person that she has destroyed.

Haha, I made my first edit to lostpedia and someone went back and added to it after re-watching it. From the bloopers section....other person added the second line.

In the scene in which Kate gets the handcuffs cut off, one of the cars has a date of 5-8-09 on the windshield. This date will presumably be the time of when the shooting of the episode occured.

I'm sure the producers would backpedal and say that date is the date the car's registration would expire (my wife's car has a sticker that says 2012 on it)... although 5 years would be pretty long. 2 years, more likely.

It was grease pen on the glass, like when a car is wrecked or impounded. They probably bought a couple at auction to fill the garage with.

So after Sayid was resurrected, why didn't Sawyer go & get Juliette's body so she could be brought back to life by the hot-tub thingy?

1) I'm not sure that Sayid is resurrected...he might simply be animated.
2) The Losties don't really know one way or the other, they know that he was injured, tossed in the spring to heal, kinda looked pretty dead, then was alive. Maybe that's how the spring works, it clearly doesn't bring people back to life, it heals them.

So much for Ben being dead. I guess he somehow survived the explosion and made it back home to become a school teacher.

Ah, the storyline moves on.

Kinda. Sorta...

It's obvious now that the secondary timeline has it's origins WAY before flight 815, possibly before the Incident. Basically, it's "what would things be like if Jacob had never influenced anyone's life". However, I am bucking the trend, and stating that the secondary timeline will NOT merge with the primary one...it's simply there to study the nuances of the characters. We're seeing parts of them blossom that we only say hints of on the Island.

Second, this season is pissing me off. They've walked away from the great storytelling to answer "questions"...and the answers are almost invariably exactly what everyone already figured out. Thanks guys. Oh, big surprise, Richard was on the Black Rock, oh wow!

There is very little time left, and they are driving this thing squarely into a Milton-esque view of the world, all while setting up what will be a annoying "war" because there's no time to watch it play out properly.

The only fun thing is watching Jacob state over and over that he's not the Devil, then flipping over to supernatural and watching him play...the Devil

i enjoyed the "richard" episode. last night's episode wasn't great IMO. The "cliffhanger" last night was supposed to be that Desmond came off the sub. I don't even remember the last time we saw Desmond to understand the significance of that. THey could have showed him out in the jungle with the other castaways and I wouldn't have thought twice about it.

The lack of response to your post seems reflects people's attitude toward the show. It used to be that I was excited for Tuesday nights to see what transpired, now it seems that I am only watching because I "invested" 6 years watching the show and want to see how it ends. Actually, if I missed the remaining episodes, I don't think I would care.

It's too bad they deviated from the original formula.

What was the deal with Jin getting kidnapped and Sayid killing his kidnappers? I thought I remember seeing something like this in a prior episode. ??? I am definitely "lost".

they showed this scenario during Sayid's flash sideways...from his perspective. remember at the end, Sayid opened the freezer door and Jim was all taped up in there? Last night answered how Jin got in there. It was the same time frame, just from Jin's perspective.

Invested the time is a good way to state it. I hated Heroes for taking something that was extraordinary, that was fun and exciting to watch, and turning it into some kind of childish soap opera. Now, Lost is taking the single best thing to ever be made for TV, and reducing it to the lowest denominator. It's just sick, and makes me wonder how some of those people still sleep at night.

I dunno, I thought the Richard episode was pretty amazing. Yes some of it was stating the obvious, but it is hard to tell the story without doing that to an extent.

What we (well, I) didn't know was the exact nature of the island and the Nemesis, which were spelled out plainly...I appreciated that.

Richard spent 120 years on the Island, we got to see, what, a week?

I dunno, yesterday's episode was useless. I also think the whole "pure evil, trapped by the Island" story is cheap. They had such a chance to make something epic, not another "white vs. black, good vs. evil, angel vs. devil" story.

at least there haven't been aliens.

Yet.

Yesterday's episode was frustrating, I agree, but they seem hell-bent on taking us through a sideways view of each major character.

Last night I did notice that most of the characters lining up with Locke/Nemesis share a common theme, whereas the characters lining up in Jacob's camp share a different but common theme. Interesting...

I actually don't have a problem with that. As I said, they're examining a part of the person that we haven't actually met, but got hints of. It's apparent that they want to make us understand that (a) small changes in one's life will make for wildly divergent future timelines, and (b) even so, there are "beacons" through life that we must hit. Places, events, people. Even though they're all living very different lives in the alternate timeline, their paths are still crossing. Doesn't necessarily mean that "destiny has brought them together" as much as "their life must pass these beacons at some point".

All of that will fall apart, however, if they decide to "merge" the timelines in the last 20 minutes of the final show

Jacob already told us who is to be the replacement...there is only one character (that I can think of) who is truly innocent, who exemplifies the humanity that Jacob claims to be nurturing. Everyone else has committed grievous sins both on and off the island.

i, too, thought the richard episode was great. i appreciated the wine bottle analogy with the island as the cork. it seems that the island is sort of a purgatory/limbo....which, if that's the case, is a little disappointing since that was the rumor/theory when this show started 6 years ago.
