Nice car and video....It was sometime in the late 60's when I was at the dealership with my father and his friend had his in for repairs. I thought it was an awsome machine at that time and thought some day.......well that day will never come but at least I have the memory of the ride.

I know where an Original '56 sits...and I do mean original. Never repainted. Knock off rudge wheels, etc. Right here in Orygun...Lee will probably be buried in this one.

Lovely. What are the gray ovals on the tops of the left front fender and the rear of the right front fender? Or are those imperfections from the flash? Dunno.

My friend bought his '56 in 1958. Told me a fun tale...1962, he & his bride driving the Nevada desert on their way to a gullwing group convention. Challenged by a pair of young guys in a new 'Vette. No speed limit in Nevada then. Lee just tucked in behind the 'Vette & followed, hauling butt across the Nevada desert. After 10-15 miles of running flat out, the 'Vette blew it's engine.
Lee stopped..."Gosh guys, can I help? I have a set of metric tools..." He did send a tow truck back for them... ![]()

Great video. I like those mechanical only restorations.
Edit. Why the hell doesn't Porsche have a classics division that manufactures parts for ALL the cars they have sold. Every time I hear about that MB division it chaps my ass that Porsche can sometimes be so short sighted. Grrr.

Thanks Hugh...but really, just remembered the Rudge name from conversations with the owner. Lee's gullwing is really nice...one of the rare bits on it is the original glass windshield squirter bottle...so many of them froze & broke. His is red, white leather inside with the fitted luggage...really total 1950's class!
Randy? What kind of weird statement is that? Way I see it, this is Lee's car...he can ship it...or not...wherever and whenever the hell he pleases. Why are you so upset about where I shipped my old 911?

not upset at all, Paul - like I've said before I think what you did was great - why do you think I'd be upset?
since I thought it was great, I also advocate him doing the same thing |

Extra horn button - rally gear for the passenger?
"...like a choke on a carburetored car" Reminds me of the hand throttle on our MFI cars.

Wonderful video. Thanks for posting.
Jay seems like such a great guy. I like his comment regarding the wide door sills on the Gullwing and how "you don't wanna be Britney Spears getting in and out of this car.." (panty-less) ![]() What a great sounding car. FWIW, I would be tempted to leave it as is with the candy apple HouseofKolor.com online shopping from the worldwide leader in the paint and coatings industry. paint and race number. Good luck to Jay with his next show... Markus '80 SC Targa |

Gullwing
That's pretty cool. Was driving through Kings Beech, Tahoe a coulpe of years ago, early on a Sunday morning. I spotted a guy getting into a perfect Gold Gullwing in front of a little coffee shop. My wife was pissed when I about crashed our car trying to get a good look. I explained but she didn't get it.
