My dad called me today while helping a family (female) friend shop for a carry gun. She wants a SIG P232, which is a .380. I told him I thought the ammo for that was pretty hard to find nowadays. Then I looked it up on a few sites. Holy sheet. WTF is going on with .380? It's either unobtanium or $.75 a round.

It is starting to trickle back in at places around here like Bass Pro and Gander Mtn. Last fall it was definitely unobtanium. Guys were paying up to $40 for the few of boxes of "cheap" target ammo at a local gun show back then.

Snipe,

Are those Magpul mags? You like 'em? Where' you get 'em?

BlueSkyJaunte 02-18-2010 07:19 PM

IIRC Snipe eschews Magpul mags in favor of standard GI mags.

I'm the Magpul fanboy, they're all I use in my ARs unless I need a 5- or 10-rounder. I get them at 44mag.com.

I got tired of spending all my cash on ammo - now I just carry a couple of mags and a 35lb weight.

CMP sent a letter around about 2 months ago saying they will have years worth of the Greek Ammo again.

Doesn't matter, I need to get reloading.

Correct. I think GI mags are perfectly fine as long as the springs are good. Our troops use 'em. I used them. I honestly have never had a single problem with any GI mag when i was a soldier.

Magpul makes good mags too though. I have nothing bad to say about them. Stay away from Sig Sauer AR mags though. They suck.

Weird, doesn't seem the type to exercise trigger discipline. Wonder if he's shot himself in the foot before?

As for AR mags, I'd gladly take a GI mag over a Sig mag any day. As long as the springs are replaced regularly and they aren't abused, GI mags are great.

Most of my AR mags i got with the rifle and they were obviously used so i put Wolff springs in all of them. The rest are newly purchased teflon coated stainless steel MILSPEC style with brand new springs. I have the one Eagle, and the Beta C.

Guys, please STOP POSTING PICS OF YOUR AMMO!

There are those in the present govt who would take things like this and say "see, we have private citizens getting ready for a revolution" and either put limits on how much ammo you can buy or own, or force everyone to store it in an "approved facility" whatever that is.

When I lived in Germany you could not buy ammo without a weapons card, and each time you bought ammo it was stamped. If you bought what they felt was too much too often yes they did ask questions.

Please, buy what you feel you need (and a bit extra just in case) but do not advertise it!

I don't stockpile ammo and I love being governed!

Nothing wrong with that Kel-tec. It makes a nice little trunk gun.

m21sniper 02-19-2010 10:22 AM

Well it is obscenely ugly. :D

BlueSkyJaunte 02-19-2010 11:37 AM

No argument--but so are most plastic pistols. This thing folds up into a really small package and runs on common mags. I don't own one but I keep thinking about it. :D
