Good vid!
The closest thing to real life is Grand Prix Legends. All those tracks are available free and more(Nordshlief, Isle of man, etc..) thanks to dedicated purists.

We've currently got the short play version of that on the TV at the moment. I love it each time it's on.

The engine sound of the older car just after it goes through the puddle is intoxicating.

Bottle it and sell it.

What is Grand Prix Legends, and what do I need to get it?

1). Old video game, cough, cough, virtual driving simulation with the 67 non-wing cars.
2). Wade though the youngsters and PS2 shelves sheepishly, and have the guy behind the counter order it.
3). Download the video/sound updates! Hundreds of free tracks available from a couple different sites.
4). Grind teeth in frustration after crashing again and again and again. Other A.I. drivers are all near-perfect. Learn to brake and lift easy/easy and play with the settings.

Pretty well covers it, but..

It's a PC based game. Because it's fairly old it isn't extremely processor hungry. You can play it in varios levels of graphics detail depending on your machine. You WILL need a steering wheel and pedals, it's next to impossible with a keyboard.

You can probably find the basic game on CD-ROM for about $10. I think you can download it online even. The add ons such as extra tracks, better car details, improved sound, etc are all downloads. I don't recall the sites off the top of my head but they are very easy to find with a quick search.

Don't blame us for the late nights staying up trying to shave 0.05 seconds off your Monza lap time. You will be addicted!

Yeah, gpl is amazing and was really ahead of its time. Gave it up for the reasons above, its sooo challenging that you'll spend whole nights at it, trying to get it right. Nothing beats finishing w. the AI cars at the old Glen.
