Probly doing it wrong but if I'm shooting slow for accuracy I hold the 45 very very lightly such that I don't fight the recoil. Gun twists up and to the side.
I do this to avoid my grip imparting any torque to the gun.

Btw very light isn't the best for reliable cycling of semi auto.

Yes, you definitely need to make sure you secure the gun sufficient to allow for proper cycling of the action.

Right, I know about limp-wristing causing problems which is what I think you're talking about. I haven't had that problem so I guess something about my grip is mitigating that issue.
