Easily screwed-over an old bass player.

Heh heh...
There's one born every minute.
Traded an old Colt .22 that I never really shot, for a sweet .17HMR.

Man, I wonder what else I can get out of him...

Thanks David! Except for that little FBI SNAFU, everything turned out great!

Heh heh heh... I hear all of that deep thrumming in their heads never really goes away, so if you catch them in an off-beat moment, you can really take advantage of them.

I'm glad you got it worked out Dan.

I think I'll start a thread'' I hoodwinked somebody on the board into trading me a Colt Woodsman Match Target Bullseye, for a .17 HMR.". I love trades that make everybody feel like they put one over on each other. But really we both knew what we had.

Enjoy it. A lot of ground hogs have fallen to that sucker. Did you get a 17 cleaning kit? Actually that particular gun shoots better dirty. Don't ask me why.

Do you need a 12 year old blind diabetic Airedale?

I hope your wife enjoys her Easter present.

I'll pick up a cleaning kit later today.
No on the dog. Do you need a 20 pound, bunny massacreing yellow kitty?

Gratuitous picture of offending trade.

I love this gun and it completes my Colt Auto collection. Found a set of correct grips for it too.

Thanks.

I almost forgot the best part of the deal.
Original box, with a personal inscription.

The gal at the gun shop got a big kick out of it.

yeah it's sweet. In it's day with the right grips is was REALLY sweet. Here is an example of what it looked like in it's day.

With the grips I found for it, which ARE Colt issued grips (govt) mine will look like this:

The original one piece wood grips, if you can find them, are around $900.00. Repros are $500.

Original grips are worth more than the whole gun without them. this will be a shooter for me, and I can't thank Dan enough.

I love the classics

Shouldn't the pistol more properly be called "the Woodsman" rather than the Colt Woodsman?

50 shells for $13.00 isn't so bad when you figure my 22-250 is 25 shells for $28.00. 17 comes out .26 per. not bad for "high power" ammo. Not as cheap as .22 but a hell of a lot better round. I agree though, Dan did just fine. We both did. I really wanted to complete my Colt brace, and he wanted a varmint gun. All is good.

Now complete Çolt brace.....

sounds like fun. It was glorious here yesterday too. We went out into the fields after dinner and shot too. I wanted to shoot the woodsman and it shot just fine.
