Yeah, i'm with you.

That does not sound like sufficient braking power at all if you have to get into the E-brakes as well.

I wonder if the onboard HAL9000 locked out his neutral requests.

Sound as if neutral was allowed after it slowed (via the hand brake) to 50mph.

"Dave, will I dream" was the last sound.

The fact that this moron had time to get on the phone, call a cop, wait for the cop to come out and tell him on a bullhorn to

try the e-brake
try neutral (again if, indeed, he had not tried it before)

speaks for itself.

Someone who needs a cop to provide a sequence of things to try to stop a car should not have a drivers license.

For some unfortunate sods, it seems Hal could turn into Hiroshima very quickly.

An EMP without blast damage is possible with a high altitude burst.

The only car I would be wary of losing my power steering/ power brakes in is a Euclid dump truck. The loss of power assistance is not that bad in anything on the road, far better than the full throttle alternative.

Driving a prius on a bumpy high-speed curve(think 'Ring carousel) I once found myself absolutely fighting the car.
-The problem wasn't the throttle, which actually would actually have been beneficial overall.
-The problem was the traction control. It was trying to pull the car off the line, and over the edge.

Traction control devices will soon be government-manditory on all new cars built.
This will supposedly prevent many claims against insurance companies.

How 'bout someone here start a company, "The Kick Stop": Kick a lever and it breaks off all the fuse heads. Problem solved.

I think we can all agree that making the automobile more user friendly will ultimately be it's downfall.

I guess Murphy was right, make something idiot proof and only idiots will use it.

Poorly tested product.

It's a disgrace to put something that poorly tested on the streets. I don't care what the companies name is.

My dad said it was all downhill after automatic transmissions and power steering were available.

Taking it to the next level - look at the morons looking at their GPS units more than the road itself and you will understand how right you are!

Ugly.
No phone calls, texting, or gaming while driving. That sucks man!

I bet you cost of ownership for a 1974 chevy is lower than a new car anyway, lol.

Luckily a runaway prius only accelerates to 90mph... Imagine a runaway ZR1?

NEUTRAL.

People should know by now to put it in neutral if this ever happens.

Problem solved.
