F1 in 4 1/2 days

Lots O'changes this year: shumi's back in a merc this time, no refueling allowed,
Alonso's in the red car, mumbles is now crashing rally cars.
Should be interesting.

BRPORSCHE 03-09-2010 02:13 PM

MUMBLES. Oh christ, you just made me spew water everywhere. I am sure going to miss Kimi though. It's going to be a lot of fun to see if FA can develop a third car.

I hated FA years ago, but I now believe he is the best driver on the grid.

serge944 03-09-2010 02:14 PM

Mumbles - lol. Let's not forget about the first Russian driver in F1 history this season.

Wintermute 03-09-2010 02:36 PM

Haha, Mumbles, even this hardcore Kimi fan can laugh at that one. It's funny, the interview on the highlight show for Rally Sweden, he looked really happy. I know a small smile isn't what we call happy, but for him it's HUGE.

This season has the potential to be vastly entertaining, or a total clusterf**k. We'll see.

I am too excited about the season.

I wish only that USF1 had have made it, the Toyota cars would have been on the grid and JV had a spot on the grid. I personally think he has more motivation that MS but may not get a chance let alone the right chance.

I am thinking the Red Bulls will be good.

I'm really bummed about USF1. Really bummed. There was a long article about them in Automobile, obviously written before the news broke.

Oh boy! Just 4 1/2 days until the start of the combined F1/F3 racing. Oh boy!

A full five second a lap gap between the haves and the have-nots.
F1/F3? Try F1/Barber Saab.
(and this was in testing, where no one really knows how much fuel the teams were carrying - all those fuel tanks will be full to the brim thanks to the no refuelling rule... and these new drivers have barely had time to get a seat fitted, let alone make some meaningful laps in the new cars. Who knows what the real gap will be.
The back markers have the potential to influence the 2010 championship, let alone individual races.

I too am bummed out about USF1, but still look forward to the new season. Hope it works out. Jean Todt has a tough row to hoe.

ON A POSITIVE NOTE! :)

Hamilton vs Button, Massa vs Alonso, Shumi and Nico, Webber and Seb. Lots of potential for exciting times throughout each race weekend.

I'm gonna miss Mumbles. His personality was so...dynamic...

I love it. These 2 changes have the Tifosi spinning. They don't know who to cheer for. They always thought that Schumi was theirs & now he has gone to a rival. And Alonso they hated with a passion. And now they have to support him. You just have to love it.

Mumbles is a great nickname.

svandamme 03-10-2010 06:19 AM

i like the no refueling idea... they always said F1 engineers could design a car that runs on water, in a matter of weeks.
Now they will have an incentive to produce a car that goes like stink, and does 70mpg all day long at WOT.

This can turn into real good technology for consumer gasoline cars, rather then simply slapping an overweight battery pack to a regular car...and disabling brake pedals.

Put me down in that category.
Hard core ferrari fan, Scumi is the greatest driver ever and can do no wrong, rooted against alonzo when he was hot but that was mostly because of the car he was driving. I also really like Kimi but I can still crack jokes about his interviews.

So this year:
still rooting for Ferrari but also for Schumi = Conflict.
Don't have a problem with Alonzo but expect Massa to do better than most people give him credit for.

Here's how I would like to see it played out:
Schumi comes back with a vengeance and does great and finishes a close second to ferrari, despite the fact that the car shumi drives turns out to be a POS.
massa kicks butt and takes the championship, Alonzo comes in a close third behind Schumi.
Hambone tries to play rough with Scumi and force his way through (Shumi is the all-time master at that and has put better drivers than hambone in their place) and Schumi punts him off the track a couple times and eventually hambone settles down and takes his rightful place mid-pack.

Yep, that would work for me.
Sure it's overly optimistic and not completely based in reality, but it is what I would like to see.

Hard core ferrari fan, Ayrton Senna, Jimmy Clark, Fangio, Tazio Nuvouari were the greatest driver's in Formula One, then we have Schumacher who is the greatest driver of a computer controlled car and can do no wrong, rooted against alonzo when he was hot but that was mostly because of the car he was driving. Sammy, I corrected a few things in the above post for you. Schumi drives a good computer controlled car. Put him in a car with a real gearshift and sitting in Monaco and Ayrton Senna, Fangio et al might show him a thing or two.

You know the real pisser about USF1? Sponsorship. Utterly pathetic! No big U.S. companies were willing to help this team? Coca-Cola is an international product. So is McDonalds. NASCAR can have 86566 sponsors on each car, but all the USF1 team can muster is YouTube? I know there were a few others, but nothing big.

For beef's sake, Redbull has TWO teams...
