Everyone has their credentials for being a fan. I am born and raised in Pittsburgh and was in high school the years they won the first 4 super bowls. The Steelers are much more then just the current roster of players they had then or have now. Players change but the team stays the same. That is why the should dump Roesthlisberger. The good he brings to the team by being part of winning 2 super bowls is now nullified by the shame he brings the organization. I would rather lose with someone I admire or at least understand then win with a degenerate. Ben actually lives about 1 mile from where I am typing this from. He as numerous stories that make the local papers ever since he came here. Nothing that I have personally seen or heard, but Pittsburgh is a small city. Walking out on tabs. Refusing to pay cover charges to any bars he goes to. He does the stuff he has to do to stay in good graces to those that don't hear the stories. I'm sure he will be here next year, I'll have the find another team to root for.

Meh, Steeler fans have their nose in the air too much for me. Always chirping about how "upstanding" the team is. If what you say about his local antics are true, where were you last off season?

For the most part, football payers are tough SOBs and with that comes a degree of meaness. I'm never surprised by a "breaking story". It's generally who they are.

Yes there are exceptions but that is not what this thread is about. I seriously doubt they will cut him. And I don't know enough to have an opinion whether they should or not.

He should be ashamed of himself by bringing such controversy the the team and the city they stand for. Not just this time but the cumulative of all the stories that have been in the press since his arrival. Compare him to Troy and ask yourself who is the better person to represent the city? I would rather have a losing team full of Troys than a winning team of Bens. Flame away, but think about it.

Geez dude, is it that bad? I'm sure there is trash on every player on every team. Reed pisses on city streets, Holmes smoking dope, rumors of Stewart blowing guys in a park, etc. etc.
Let's let the facts come out. If indeed he is convicted then yes shame on Ben. Will I 'move' to another team? Nope, just like I'm still a Pirate fan even though, (and this to me is even lower), their ownership is a disgrace. I guess I'm a city fan, not a team fan. Remember... in today's world all a celeb, or you & I as far as that's concerned has to do is wink at a hottie and we're Bubbas boyfriend in the big house.

I can't tell you how much good I have heard of Troy. There are good people involved in the organization. And the Steelers have a reputation of getting rid of the bad eggs and leaving them to the Raiders of the NFL. It's one thing to have a Linemen get cut, another to have a quarterback who's won 2 rings and had a $110 million contract. Like I said, I could put up with his crap because it was local here-say and I knew the guy could never be a person like Polamalu. But he must think that he is above everything anymore. Trade him to the Raider for picks this year, the Steelers will live on without him.

The problem there is that he's there in the first place. It's like you or I going back to our college after 10 years from graduation and reliving the past. Some can adjust and understand their position and others don't have a clue. As my wife has mentioned, Ben can't get the stuff that Romo and Brady have, so he has to go trolling at the local bar.

No freaking way. From what I hear, nobody in the NFL has to spend the night lonely. A high-school friend's dad was a Ram lineman, he has some great stories. I seriously doubt that a Superbowl winning household name quarterback in a city that worships football has any trouble picking up women.
