Florida mom and pop beach motels
Anyone can recommend a mom and pop motel on or near the beach in Florida? I am particularly interested in the Cocoa Beach to Lauderdale area and the panhandle to Naples area.

By mom and pop, do you mean a location that isn't going to be full of rowdy kids?
Indian Rocks Beach, and the small towns near it (between Clearwater and St Petersburg) are primarily older folks, and condos for snow birds. It's a nice area that's mellow. Yu won't find a boardwalk or huge strip of bars and clubs on the beach.

Yeah, a place for the over 50 crowd. Like the old one story motels that used to be all over the beach. Most got torn down and replaced by condos. Not looking for a condo. We have a place in lauderdale by the Sea we like called High Noon Resort. It is a small motel right on the beach in a small village that has everything you need...BUT....it is a little expensive. We are looking for alternatives.
Thanks for your reply. The Suncoast Beach place looks pretty nice. Last edited by dennis in se pa; 02-07-2011 at 08:37 AM.. |

Here is one that we stay at when our group of families head to the beach each summer. Great beach to walk on and no 20 story condos next door.

Seagrove villas in the pan handle near destin. They have villas that are right on the beach. I lived in FL for 20 years and it was our favorite place. Seagrove Villas Motel - Seagrove Beach, FL

We went to Cocoa Beach in 2006. We ended up staying at a chain motel right at the pier.
While down there we went to Ron Jon Surf shop. They were flogging a time share and we could have stayed for $10 for the night. I had zero interest. I don't remember where it was or if they still have the promotion. I'm not sure if that's your thing or not, however it's an option for cheap accomodation.

Cheap is good. As long as it is not "ratty". Yes I want my cake and be able to eat it too. ![]() |
