Apple is making some great products. I have a philisophical issue though with the closed platform.... ....it's their ballgame but I'll sacrifice a bit so as not to support that.

I actually like my pre better than the iPhone. It's Linux/Java based and has a physical keyboard. All the useful apps I need.... ...and it's NOT an Apple product. I won't own one. (Though the iPad does have me drooling.) Curious as to the battery life.

Defective batteries are a known issue. Take your phone to an Apple store and they will test the battery. I can moderately use my iPhone all day, all night and it will still have a charge the next morning.

I use my phone all day long for business and then the kids play with it all night - rarely runs out of battery.

I do make a point not to turn on Location Settings unless needed and keep WiFi off unless connected. Otherwise, the phone is constantly trying to find a connection or link with GPS. There is a great jailbreak app called SB Settings which gives you instant access to all the on/off settings with a flip of your finger.

Uh, I am pretty sure the world ends in 2012. Even Jobs won't survive ... well maybe.

Ha! Apple product launches always entertain. :D

More excitement than 10y/o's at a Harry Potter sneak-peak. ...excited like they need to be wearing an iPad.

Waiting for the HP slate here. A "pad" that big should be able to multitask and have USB connectors for keyboards, mice, and flashdrives.

I would kill for a device that I could throw my flashdrive in and pull up machining prints in the shop or parts diagrammes. But having to sync it and download stuff to it ruins that for me.

In fact, an HP netbook does everything you need now.. i.e. reading and whatnot- it's just not flat like a book. It won't be long before netbooks start coming with touchsreens and flip-around hinges. For $500. Much cheaper than the apple product.

I dont read the ebooks much, so I'm going to stick with my

iPad mini

for now.

We video chat weekly with my parents so they can see their grand-daughter.

I want one, but the lack of a camera for Skype or iChat is a deal breaker for me. I'll wait for the 2nd generation model.

Take it to the Apple Store and exchange it.

Battery life on them gets a bad rap as they are used far more than the typical smart phone.

Even so your battery life sounds abnormal.

I am a really heavy user. Battery lasts a day. Occasionally it requires a charge during the day but that's rare.

I do plug it in before bed every night.

Wayne, u are a smart man, hope you kept your stock and didn't listen to the guys (that just don't get it)that told u to sell. I have been pleased to say the least. I said before, they will sell 6 million of these this year(conservative)...... people are going to be pleased to be able to try out an APPLE computer at this price point. Steve Jobs is after Google and Mr Softy... he's almost there & Exxon is having trouble replacing reserves.... MacDailyNews - Apple surges past Wal-Mart to become 3rd most valuable U.S. company
