Flying Mercury Bicycle

We found an old wood rim bicycle at my work the other day but are having little luck finding information on it.

the badging on the front reads Flying Mercury, Chicago

I know there are alot of bike riders on pelican so I though I would ask for some help

I added photos below

Very rare bike. Used in racing. Just saw one on the pickers show. They may have the show on line. American pickers. It's worth around 250 - 500 from what I gathered from the show.

Go here www.WingYourHeel.com

Here is the web site of the pickers show. I have his phone number too if you want, call him. He buys old bikes.

Damn seats were uncomfortable back then. :D

Looks like it might have been made by Cleavland Bicycles, not a racer, cost a lot to restore it, I haven't bought tires for one of those for a few years but they used to be real expensive. Maybe mid teens, Not one of the expensive bikes of the time.

Racerbvd 03-16-2010 07:34 AM

Trades???? Sorry, I have to ask:D

Hawkney911 03-16-2010 08:54 AM

Sorry Byron as of now no.

I would love to get more information on it, an see if has any value.

It was pulled from a dumpster in the 60 and sat in a boiler room until now

bell still works tho... lol

I wouldn't get too excited, I think the badge is the most worthwhile part. But then, I stopped collection those bikes ten years ago.
