Must be spring in MI-saw my first primered, no hood muscle car today.

Yep, spring has sprung!!!!

No pics as I don't have a camera phone.

68 or 69 Chevelle, no hood, chrome air cleaner, primered body out on the road today. Im pretty sure Joe Dirt was behind the wheel. (I'm just sayin'.)

Sounded like he had some popcorn in, though. ARGH ARGH!!

Yes, spring is definitely in the air. The local high-end dealer down the road - Lake Forest Motorsports in getting active. There is usually one or two Ferrari's or an Aston or two go by every day. Wonderful music.

"Sounded like he had some popcorn in" = solid lifters?

Hey, give that guy some respect... he's probably been working on that thing in his garage all winter and wanted to let it out for a run.

Popcorn= big compression motor

I could feel it as he drove by on the two lane street. Sounded more "mechanical" than just loud. Most likely a roller cam.

Around here, the street racing scene is pretty hardcore with cars that look crappy but run extremely quick. Most run LOTS of spray as well.

As a former drag car guy, I can usually tell if a car has some go to it.

Yeah, I still love to hear those motors.

I love badass old muscle cars! Love engines built up enough that the exhaust beats a violent melody of percussion and you actually feel like something is pounding on your chest as they go by!

No iron fist in a velvet glove there, just a bare knuckle *****slap of torque and the promise of more where that came from!

LOVE IT!!!

Same here. LOVE the sound of a big high compression OHV V-8.

I love my 16V 928 for exactly this reason. With the 3" borla racing exhaust, it sounds WAY more like a NASCAR or muscle car than it does a European sports car.

Fast forward to :10 if youre impatient.

PS: to you 911 guys, take note how i get into and out of the throttle without any drama whatsoever in extremely sharp turns....in the rain! Hehehehe

Bring er' to Lime Rock this summer Snipe we'll see how we run

I grew up in southwestern Ohio which is muscle car territory also. Always loved them still do. Every summer Friday night going to Riprap road for street drag racing.
My best bud had a 69' Mach1 shaker hood, 4 speed, the works. I'm sure he still wishes he had that car

IMHO - Best thing that ever happened to muscle cars - Big, big diameter exhaust. They just make that horsepower sound so, so much sweeter.

As a hot-rodder of American muscle since I was old enough, I lust after the Noise Smoke and smell of fuel. the Chevelle sounded good. I would be scared to take this 5L to far with out that stroker crank and steel liners. Don't get me wrong, I will bring up the power, but I want it to last so I wont go nuts on this one.

Best my 928 has run is a 13.67@102.9mph on 245/45/16's all around (rear tires @ 22psi)

I only have a 2:20:1 final drive. With a final drive around 4:1 i am sure the same car with the same engine would run close to a 13 flat (but my top end would go from 155+ to about 110, lol). I'd probably run pretty close to a 13 flat on slicks too.

Nowadays that's really not even that fast.

My old T-type Turbo and 68 LeMans were much better drag racing cars.

In mississippi we know it spring when the fishermen at roadside ponds go from sitting on a plastic 5 gallon bucket to sitting on the bank.
