Oh they are sooo cute!!!!

No spring ones for me! My little flock of 15 is now about 10 months old (last year's spring chicks). All of them are laying and according to my husband, they are all SPOILED ROTTEN!

Sheesh, just because they follow me around and come when I call them!

8 Black Jersey Giants
2 Buff Orpingtons
1 Blue Lace Wyandotte
4 Light Brahmas

We have: 7 layers-3 leghorns and 4 barred rocks and 1 BR rooster. We'll be getting 30 more chicks, but they'll be meat chickens.

Some of last year's meat chickens had names, kept them the whole way to the plate: "Is this Gimpy? Wow, Goliath really was huge." Livestock are not pets, and names do not automatically build an emotional attachment.

Got 5 layers. The eggs are piling up. Time to send the girls to the neighbors to sell eggs. White and brown eggs are 25 cents, but the green ones are 35 cents.

I picked all of mine by certain criteria:
1. Brown Eggs (taste the same, same nutrition, I just like the look)
2. Good natured (do good in flocks, no picking)
3. Mostly very large
4. Oh they're SOOOO pretty - LOL!

I wanted a mixed flock so that within the group I could decide what I liked best. The light brahma's are pretty my favorite.
