Bosch Appliances

About a year ago I got a Kenmore dishwasher because it was supposed to be the best under $500 machine according to a bunch of ratings. It washed OK, but the cycle took forever and the noise level was insane. It screeched and moaned for 2 hours just to wash a load of dishes. A machine that vibrates and carries on like this cannot be well made or efficient no matter what the end result is. I couldn't stand it and bought a $600 Bosch last week. The difference is amazing. The Kenmore seemed to be fighting itself and it set the whole house on edge. There is a sense of harmony when the Bosch is running. There is something soothing and ... right about a well designed machine. You can just sense it.

Our Bosch dish washer is the only one I have ever had that cleans the dishes with no sign of food what so ever. It's so quiet I can't tell if it's running.

Great appliance !

The Zen of washing.

We have Bosch washers and dryers, and have had for years.

Wouldn't trade them for anything.

I had a $1500 Bosch dishwasher. Lasted about 4 years and the pump went out. They wanted $500 to replace it. No thanks. $500 Maytag it is.

Which Kenmore. They just rebrand a GE or Whirlpool or Maytag, usually not the high end units.

My GE Profile Triton is excellent and quiet. They did a lot of work in the late 90's to minimize the water that would hit the walls and door. Keeps the noise level down and put more water on the dishes.

Worst I've ever owned was a Hotpoint (GE) that tried to burn the house down.

My Bosch dishwasher is 12 years old and looks and runs like new. It is so quiet that you almost don't hear it running. Highly recommended.

We gave up on the noisy Kenmore stuff, Bosch at home for the last 5 years and not one issue.
The dishwasher is so quiet that has a light to show it's working... when the sales lady told me that I laughed.. now I know why they put that light.

Miele, Bosch, Asko, then Kitchen Aide. In that order and I would not and have not installed anything else in my client's kitchen in the past 12-15 years now.

Bottom basket / rack is pretty weak on my Bosch dishwasher. It is quiet and does a pretty good job. As with any of them, don't over load it and expect a great job.

Just bought the $900 SS Bosch last week. It works great and is very quite at 52dB. Whisper quiet.

My wife wanted quiet, so we ended up getting the top of the line Kitchenaid in SS. 41dB. It's REALLY quiet. Hopefully, it lasts.

Very time appropriate thread for me, since we are in the process of picking our appliances for our kitchen redo.

Our selected dishwasher is:
Bosch SHV65P03UC 24" 800 Plus Series 800 Series
Sound level: 47dBA
# of cycles: 6
SS Tub
2 pumps
Capacity (settings): 14.

From most of the posts here, I gather that I am making the right choice, at least in dishwashers. (Hopefully those pumps will last!)

Have a Bosch D/W going on two years now. Very quite, well made unit.
Only problem so far was the drain pump quit working one day, but i found a piece of broken glass wedged in the impeller preventing it from turning. Alls been good since.

I think that's a good choice. I looked at that one and decided on the cheaper Bosch SHX43P1. I chose it because it's the least expensive one I found that has zone washing, so you can wash either one rack or a whole machine load of dishes. I like it that it has a water heater that actually raises the temperature of the water (the Kenmore & GE that I had before it only maintained the temp). I can turn my water heater down to 120 now.

Steve, you wouldn't have any problems if you have one of the upper end unit. the one thing I really like about Kitchen Aids is that they have a drying cycle adn its automatic. it will dry up all of the water.
