I heard about LH on the late news. I had expected it to be blown way out of proportion.

The first thing that came to mind, was ...."Argh, he will be let off"!
Afterall, if John Singleton can get off a 218kph speeding ticket; because his Bentley was designed to do those speeds; then surely the fastest man in F1 practice will only get a slap on the pee pee for waging the tail of his Merc!...........wrong!

The poor little fellow doesn't look too inpressed about being in the back of a cop car.

Well that's gone and done it...no point on wooing me snipey...I used to be able to claim very proudly sensational quality (not quantity - no gravity issues lol)...but 3 kids and the last one being another Billy; aka the vampire....well I can't claim much at all now ....oh well; it was fun whilst it lasted lol........

Of course here you have to do triple the limit to avoid the stray bullets....but still.....

PS: The speed limit in question was 45mph.

Oh...is that all? I was thinking 60mph....got busted doing close to triple the limit many years ago (I was young and pretty then)...in a VERY hot, VERY wild early 911 of Dad's....I just wanted to see what it would do to cutout in 5th....cutout was 8,000....and don't ask me the specs of the car cos I ain't telling ya lol!

Anyway, didn't see the radar boyo behind the tree...stopped quite a few kms up the road to fill with fuel and check the oil etc...I hear sirens getting louder, don't think much of it..until the police car pulls into the service station rather quickly. It was perfect timing for me to be leaning into the engine bay in short shorts lol!!!! Two cops ask me who the driver was; I say me; they say no way; I say yes way and why? They say maybe you should slow down a little young lady....we tried to get you on the gun and couldn't...where did you learn to drive like that anyway??? So then we spend half an hour chatting cars etc and I toddle off! Try that today - NOT!!!

One of many times I might add....I spent my catlike nine lives very early on....

Oh and for any children reading - speeding on the road is a VERY VERY BAD THING. I was young and silly then (and now the fines are too pricey and the licence points loss is too great)....

The only reason i got caught was because i slowed down and started driving with the flow of traffic. The cop said it took him 10 mins at full throttle to catch up. Hahaha.

If only i would have turned, i would have saved $162...

Well a couple of things...it's Saturday and a slow news day thus far I guess...the Pizza man gets himself killed on his motorbike up the road form there on hours earlier on...Vic Police are all over anyone who plants the foot in a car now...Hamilton is who he is...cops had a large audience of onlookers and maybe couldn't have gone soft given the current stand against 'hoon' driving or just got their rocks off on being able to throw the book at a celebrity like Hamilton on GP weekend...no matter which way you cut it; it's a bad look for Melbourne I'd say.

I do think though that Hamilton should not have done it; especially as Massa has involved himself in an anti-hoon campaign down here. I would have thought the PR guys would have given all the drivers the heads-up to be model citizens on our roads this weekend.

I think the cops done the right thing. No-one should be above the law. And he is after all a visitor to the country for whatever reason, he should abide by the laws. I'm pretty sure dropping burnouts on a public street is illegal anywhere......well except for some Arab nations perhaps.

In saying that though........it was a C63 Benz......I bet it pulled a very nice burnout!!

In Philly you get a....$162 dollar fine for doing a burn out.

We have our downsides here for damn sure...but Pa is a great place to live in many ways.

A C63 Benz? Christ, it's hard not to boil the tires in one of those. That's a car that wants to go sideways more than it wants to go straight sometimes. As fast as that car is, it must feel so slow to someone who just drove flat-out in an F1 car an hour before. Like going from a Mach2 fighter plane to flying a commuter jet. (Or something).

I read Wiki about your anti-Hoon laws.

Similar to out Street Racing laws. In extreme cases, they can crush cars. But they also used it to enact new speed rules. 50km/hr (31 mph) over the limit is an automatic roadside 1 week seizure of vehicle. Plus a hefty fine. I am driving slower these days.

Making hay....

Lewis Hamilton's notorious Mercedes Benz to be sold at auction today | Herald Sun

I was almost fuming about this...til I read the last line; that any monies paid over the retail price would benefit a wonderful charity here.

If Benz were really serious though - they would donate the LOT. Stingy buggers!

OH...and amazingly ; we've gone from Hamilton doing a burnout and fishtailing down the road a bit to Hamilton doing donuts...

I'm waiting for the news reports to show that he also mowed down a sidewalk full of old lady's going between church and their temperance meeting, all of which happened to be the foster parents and sole caregivers for AIDS-infected crack babies.
