Bicycle guys, what road bike tires?

I am pressing my vintage Proctor (753 Columbus, investment cast lugs) road bike back into service as a commuter bike and I would like to mount some tires on the 700C rims that will take a bit of punishment.
Current tires on the bike are 700x20C and there is a bit of room at the front (by the crankset) for a slightly larger tire and below the crown of the fork.
What I am looking for is something that will be pretty cut/flat resistant. I don't mind if the tires are a bit heavy in trade for not fixing flats....

I had a set of Panaracer Pasela's for a while, no issues w/ flats.

Specialized armadillos. They are super tough. They are also heavy, stiff and expensive. But I love them. 6 years running city streets, zero flats. Be a bit careful at first if you get them. The rubber compound is very stiff, and can slip until they get cut in.

I use Michelin Pro 2 Race (now called the Pro 3 Race) almost exclusively. I've experienced WAY fewer flats than w/ other brands and they're practically the de facto standard amongst road cyclists.
They're $61 from Performancebike, but they're $39 from Probikekit in 700x23, food for thought.

But like HardDrive said, those Armadillos are super tough, made just for your intended purpose, urban commuting.

+1 on these (700 x 23)...with added slime tape inside... zero punctures despite riding thro central London for the last few years....

Have Pro 3 on the road bike and they are far more vulnerable...

I need an excuse to drive the 911 somewhere, so I am going to see if I can find the flat resistant armadillos...

I dunno - I've found Contis to flat easily. Better luck with Bontrager but YMMV. Haven't ridden the Armadillos but they sound like they might be the thing to use in his case...

+1 on Michelin Pro Race 2s. My bikes sport them. Pretty low rolling resistance and pretty high puncture resistance. They kinda look cool too, all gray and stuff.

Wow, the shop price for the armadillos were up there!
They are a pretty light tire though for the amount of protection they offer.
The shop did have some Schwable (sp?) puncture resistant tires. They were on sale for less than half of the price of the armadillos. One thing I like about these were that they had a bit more tread to them and I do have a short section of gravel that I have to bounce down on the way to work.
Going to give em a try this week.

I tell ya, these better be puncture resistant/proof because they are harder than H E double hockey sticks to put on. Just did a quick tune and a trip around the block. I think I need to change the bars or stem. A bit too much reach for me in my current out of shape and inflexible condition.
The bike rides well though.
