My "new" 78 CB750
well, I went ahead and traded my non-op Moto Morini to a local guy who collects Italian bikes for a running 1978 CB750 with 9800 miles. So now I have (2) maroon CB750s. The bike is in good shape, it needs new tires, has a slight oil weep at the front(head may need re-torqued), and runs on half-choke--I attribute this to the cheap Emgo pods that were installed without any jet work. But, it does run nicely and wears the original paint and exhaust. The flip-up sissy bar/luggage rack, king and queen seat, pods, crash bars, and "official grab-on" bars and grips have all got to go. I am thinking a mild Cafe on this consisting of an original-style seat, drag bars, and possibly re-working the tail while I convert the 76 into the full-blown Cafe(now that I have my Dunstall seat back from the upholstery shop) and finish hunting down my charging issue
![]() Onto the pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() On a further note--the guy I traded with has an INCREDIBLE bike collection. He has 20-25 machines, mostly Moto Guzzis, Laverdas, Benellis, and Morinis--these bikes were sick--(3) had less than 25 miles! including a Benelli Quattro with 16 total miles. He had several 6-cylinder Benellis, an ultra-rare Moto Morini K6, and a Guzzi he saved from a house fire that runs like a top, but features melted guages/signals Just a real nice collection(he didn't want me taking any snaps, but he did BS with me for about 2 hrs. while showing off the machines). Incredible.

Neat bikes. A buddy of mine was looking at this CB900 locally for a Cafe Racer project:

I had a CB750 when I went to university. Never let me down. The guys with the Nortons and Triumphs were constantly working on theirs. The Honda just drove. Wonderful bikes.
Someone posted a link here recently of some guy in California (San Francisco) that builds cafe racers for clients. Anyone remember who that was? Link?

A Moto Morini ? Great little bike, like a small Ducati.....I rode a few days with a guy that had a 350 on the "Three Flags" ride - Mexico to Canada in 3 days....He kept up just fine.....

I bought a 1973 CB750 in 1977. It had 1500 miles on it. It's out in my shed right now with 45,000 miles on it. I road it regular for a few years and then parked it.
On one trip I went from Burlington, Vermont to Jackson Hole, Wyoming to work at Jackson Lake Lodge for the summer, From there I went down to the Grand Canyon to work at the El Tovar for a year. After working there for a year I rode back up thru Yellowstone, around past Mount Rushmore in South Dakota and then back across to Vermont. Haven't ridden it since, except out on the back roads a mile or two each year to keep it running. It doesn't look near as nice as yours, but then I rode the heck out of this thing. I'll be firing her up soon for its yearly checkup, I'll try to snap a photo or two.

Has the guy got something he'd trade for a Moto Guzzi V65sp? I've got one that needs a new home.

He may. I know he is currently looking to unload a green Triumph speed-four. He is attempting to go all-Italian with his collection. I'll e-mail him and see if he is interested, and if so, put him in touch with you. If you want, send me a PM with the details on the bike.

Is it one of the ones that shows up at the VME meetings occasionally? I've seen several there that I've fallen in love with. Very cool little bikes.

I just found one, while my yamaha 850G is down. I found a 1980 CB750F on the local craigslist last thursday, 18k on the clock. Read a lot about this model, it seems to have been compared with a Duc 900 in Cycle World, and came out on top. Mine seems a little sluggish, compared to my 850 yammie. Pix Wed.
