Nobody has an opinion?

Mike;
I had a guy buy a BMW of mine and come pick it up using one of those. It looked Mickey Mouse to me, and it 'teetered' too much for my liking. I wouldn't have done it myself. All I hoped was that it broke far enough away that I didn't have to come help him. He made it OK, all of 45 miles. |
This debate comes up frequently on the MC forums with lots of negative responses, but no real resolution. I would guess it depends on how far you want to tow it, and whether you want to remove the chain during towing. Center of tire wear is also a concern, but more so on sport bikes that have soft tires and wear the crown easily on flat highway miles. From the pic it looks like that's a hard-tail, which would also raise concerns.
I would be okay using it for short distances (say under 100 miles or so) if I didn't have any other alternatives (but I already have a trailer, or could rent one pretty cheap), but anything beyond that I would have second thoughts. . Just my opinion though. SmileWavy |
True, that hard tail would be bippin and a boppin all over the road. . . . . .
|
A smaller bike maybe, that bike, no.
|
Yeah....I have a small tilt trailer that I'll probably use. It just looked like a simple easy way to move a ride when doing a long drive and needing both a truck and the bike.
yes, it's a Hardtail, with springs under the seat and fork shocks up front. 2004 frame, new Evo crate motor with 500 miles on it.....depending on how annoying the pipes are, I may throw mufflers on it. |

Yeah....those pipes will be annoying. Most definately. |
But what about "loud pipes save lives"?
|
Needs some lateral (side to side) triangulation at least.
It's going to be an issue up driveways, through crowned intersections and at any decent speed. Hardtail? Bad idea. |
Any requirement to back up might get interesting also. The turning lock (max left to max right) on a lot of bikes is very minimal.
|
nah, forget it.

goes good with coboy hat
|
You gonna tow it with the 911? (Where's OJ?)
Seriously: No effen way I'd tow any bike I cared about with that thing. |

Mike- pick up a used wave runner trailer for cheap and weld some channel iron on it and tie down points. The trailer is small enough not to be a hassle like a full car trailer. I plan to make such a trailer for the next time the family goes on vacation and tow it behind the family SUV.

I have a trailer in SLO. It pulled the 914/6 up to Steve WIllie's shop. Forgot I had it.....a few mods and it'll work out.
