F1: Malaysia ***Spoiler***
A good race imho. I am sure it would have been wilder if it had rained, but Vettel (and Webber) owned the race & deserved the win. Interesting antics from Hammy in the Petrov block on the straight.

I missed it broadcast (just moved and no tv yet) but was up early and watched the live timing/scoring and commentary on my blackberry......good on red bull for vettels car making it to the end, and webber for hanging in there.......
And we need to keep our eyes on kubica, he's really stepping up his game, he may be "the dark horse" this season if they can get a little more performance out of the renault.....

I was determined to watch live, so I set an alarm.

I really like F1 but not enough to get up a 3:30am to watch it.

Ironically - for my profession - I am technologically impaired in the TV arena, so live TSN (BBC link) is the only chance I get.

It's gotten harder and harder for me to like Hamilton. His dissing the team on the radio last week was pretty bad but those back and forth blocking moves on Petrov down the straight were pathetic, then the 'warning' was a joke. Anyone racing that caliber of racing knows the blocking rules. He should have been taken off the track. He really belongs in NASCAR, where "racing is a contact sport", with his driving style. He'd be right at home with Montoya.

Good race with lots of action. I will disagree with DaveE's assessment of Hamilton weaving, I think he was trying to break his tow to prevent a pass and not weaving to push someone off track. I don't think Petrov could get close enough though to pass.
Ashame about Alonso. What a drive he had in a car that couldn't properly downshift. F1 needs to fix the aero issues. It's ridiculous that a car lapping 2.5 seconds faster than a competitor, can't pass them when they get up to them.

Hamilton the "next Schumacher"? What a joke.
Vettel is without doubt to class of the F1 field. With just a touch of luck, he will be rewarded for it this year. The odds makers have "HamBone" Hamilton and "Crybaby" Alonzo battling for the championship, but my moneys' on Sebastian Vettel. With Adrian Newey and the car control of Vettel we should see the emergence of the Nascar model multi-car team. Remember, Newey Design penned and collects data from two teams. Red Bull and Torro Rosso.

Great to see Vettel win. Seems like such a nice/smart kid. Good on him!
Watch the tapes, Hamilton was not blocking Petrov. He was simply trying to break the draft. Petrov was reacting to Hamilton's moves, not the other way around. Seems like the Stewards issue is gone for 2010...I sure hope so. As I always said, Let Them Race! Kubica is looking very good too! He deserves a good season IMO

So Hamilton goes from 20th to 2nd, then back down to 6th on a pit stop, and you guys still don't think he's a good driver.

Poor Fred. Failure with 2 laps to go. And to do so much of the race with an ailing car. That also constitutes one of the drives of the race. Congrats to Vettel. He'd be 3 for 3 were it not for the fragility of the car. I don't think it's necessarily his driving style that's pushed his cars beyond their design tolerance.

That back-and-forth weaving down the straight Hamilton did to try to get the Russian off his tail early on in the race was priceless. It was a good race - worth the late hrs.

I don't think Vettel is particularly tough on cars. I just think the Red Bull was designed putting aerodynamics above all else...so it's fast, but might not have the best cooling.
What about Schumacher? He hasn't been doing all that well for a seasoned veteran. Rossberg seems to be beating him at every turn.

Another yawner, IMHO. You guys must have watched a different race than me. The aero package is killing this season. The no refueling issue is a joke. Poor VR. They must be in denial, just as I am.

Vettel is good and so young, he's in it for the long term. Massa is my vote; good OVERALL driver in all conditions. Aloneso, fast but fragile. Weber, cry-baby with baggage. Hamilton, good, but so-so with so-so car. Kubica is fast also, if given the right car.

Hambone stepped into the best team and choked his first year. Barely won the championship in his second year and now he's just a good driver. Schumi took a second rate team to the championship on his shoulders with the help of Ross Brawn. Let's see bonehead win in a second rate car.

"Choked his first year"? You're full of ****. Missing the championship by one point your rookie year is not choking, and makes him better than most of the field. Most rookies don't even score one point, let alone take second place.
He only "barely" won his second year because the FIA saw it fit to mess with race results after the fact for phantom infractions. (Things that have gone unpunished when done by other teams before and since.) If Alonso, or Massa, or Vettle, or Schumacher had gained 18 places in a race, you'd all be declaring the second coming of Christ. I really don't understand the Hamilton haters. Alonso is far more arrogant and abusive of his team(s), but you all seem to overlook that. Button only wins consistently when he has the best car in the field and qualifies well. He can't manufacture victory for himself. Schumacher is past his prime and will finish a reliable sixth every race.

Except for when his wheel falls off. Then he doesn't even finish.

I hate them all.
When Jeff Gordon gets out there, THEN it will be a race.
