How will the Generation of 15-22 year olds rulle the world?

Anyone deal with this Generation?! What the hell?

For the most part they're lazy and expect EVERYTHING to be given to them.

Work ethic is Nil.

I see the future and it's grim.

"How will they rule the world?"

With an Itouch...

It depends on the person.

Today's trade and tech schools and colleges are filled with kids that are hard workers, AND with kids that are just going through the motions to keep mommy and daddy off their back so they don't have to get real jobs.

But you know, if you spoil your kids and they spoil their kids and so on, at some point, you will have kids that are utterly unable to take care of themselves, and you'll have no one to blame but yourselves.

Far from spoiled, my sons are from I.

sadly all of my four are from divorced familys. Her two and my two are spoiled by their other parents who where not the custodials.

It's not just my four, but youth that I run into on the daily life.

I'm far from impressed.

If we survived the Hippy generation (just barely, they're still fking this nation up beyond repair IMO), we can survive the i-generation.

unclebilly 04-10-2010 10:22 AM

The previous generation always says the same thing about the next generation. In my opinion, this is a problem we have created ever since we outlawed natural selection and tough love.

We molly coddle our kids to the point that they haven't had to learn to do a damn thing on their own.

You'll be fine if my kids are in charge. Be careful generalizing. Daughter is a college soph on the deans list, double major in Sociology and Spanish, working 16-20 hours per week since she turned 17, pays for everything but books, tuition and her room, that comes from her college fund. Will study abroad in Argentina next year, volunteers every week at a school for new immigrant kids learning english.

Son is 3.6 senior in HS, heading to college in the fall, Army ROTC scholarship candidate, partial tuition scholarship from the school going in, works 20 hours per week doing construction every day after school.

They have their faults sure but no way are they lazy or disrespectful. Both have great friends I could say similar things about.

I think there are plenty in my generation capable if leading. I feel I am and I know of plenty others. Sure there are some screwups. Your generation had them too...

There are many in this generation like these two kids that are respectful, hardworking, and sharp. The future is bright because the ones your see hanging out at the mall or dropping out of school won't be in charge.

I have the privilege of working with this age group everyday. We'll be fine. Probably more than fine.

I'm sure the current crop of 15-22 yr. old Chinese kids will do just fine ruling the world.

There are lots of worthless kids(adults too). For the most part they'll find themselves in crappy jobs. Some will get into management or corp America too.

I dont know that politics is easy enough for the slackers to get very far into.

Jim Bremner 04-10-2010 08:39 PM

Eldest son is away in college studying to be a Professor of Early colonial history. 3.7 GPA

Youngest son is on the High School baseball team and is doing 3.5

Well, you can get very far in politics without ever having had a real job. But you do need some killer ambition and work ethic to get there. Too bad those qualities aren't put to better use.

m21sniper 04-10-2010 09:22 PM

Ambition is such an evil thing.
