Wife wants a Panamera
She has to have a 4 door for business purposes. She will be paying for it. She wants 4wd. I like the idea of the turbo. She'll be getting it in the next year.
I have my toys should I encourage this reckless thinking? |

Lease it! Then, in 2 years, when the Panamera is discontinued, you won't be stuck with a white elephant.

Having spent 15-20 minutes on Road Atlanta in the backseat of a 4S, I think this is an excellent idea. The car is just incredible.

Les, you only live once. If that's what your wife wants, i would encourage her.

I took her for a short jaunt in the 930 yesterday. Only her second ride in the last 3 years. I told her to close her eyes and we hit 7k in the first 3 gears which is pretty wild with all the sound and fury. Then I told her to imagine it in a car with ac, heater, stereo, nav, etc. And not in this 34 year old beater.

It looks less ungainly each time I see one.
Prices start at half of the Aston Martin Rapide, but can rise +50k with options. ![]() ![]() ![]()

I don't like the car, i think it's hideous, but if the wife wants one, and she's paying, there is no upside to saying no, but plenty of upside to saying yes.

Get a tow hitch for it, at least you can tow a real Porsche with it.

Do you really care what it looks like on the outside when you're behind the wheel? I can say that (and so can you) since I have a few other sexy vehicles to impress and win approval with
![]() Really, as long as it wasn't my only car I'd take one. A performance sedan is a lot if fun. I would have rather bought the wifey an ugly Porsche than her SUV. Be glad your wife isn't asking for an SUV. |

Even uglier than the car is the MASSIVE depreciation those things will suffer, very quickly.
For her use, it will probably cost $20-30K per year just in depreciation. And will be out of warranty in 2 years, so add significant maintenance and potentially devastating repair costs too. All in all, it will be a very expensive ride. You and your wife must be very wealthy to easily afford such costs, so congrats on that. To spend that kind of money on what is still just a highly depreciating production car seems foolish to me, no matter how much $$ one has, but of course peoples' opinion on that vary greatly. |

Well she isn't actually paying for it is she? Marital funds are likely being used? Or does she maintain her own "my things" account?

People who blow money like that soon have no money...
AND it are Rolls Royce owners that are Nouveau Ric he, older money bought Bentleys because they were understated... But this guys wife has money to blow...so why not take the step up and be a REAL Pretender...

.....if the wife is happy you are happy.
Just out of curiosity have you taken her over to the Maserati dealer or put her in an M5 or M3 4 door? It'd be a toss up to see which car would be more worthless in two years with 60K miles (I think the BMWs would fare a little better and you'd pay less to begin with).....but at least you'd get your money's worth out of the warranty. |
