Dropped my iPhone and cracked the screen

As I can just swap my sim card with any other 3G or GS, where would be the cheapest place to find one? I am only 13 months into my contract, so the AT&T store is not willing to offer me much of a replacement deal.

If it's a 3G or 3GS you can buy replacement glass that will come with a toolkit to DIY for ~$50 or less.

Apple Store will replace the glass for you for $100.

I dropped mine but it still works fine, and I'm just going to wait it out until I upgrade.

Wow, thanks for the quick responses! I think I will order the kit and do it myself. Jeremy, my phone is still working, but I figure if I drop it again that might finish it off. I got one of the anti-glare screens and stuck it on there in hopes of holding the screen together.

Monkeyman, looks like Amazon has it for $15, plus another $2 for the tool kit. Is this what I need?

You can get replacement glass on amazon for $8. I have already cracked two and its not hard with the instructions they provide and the videos on iFixit.com

Yeah that looks like it.

I need to pick one up as well.

BTW, the anti glare screens work pretty well.

I put one on my 1st gen after breaking the glass and the kids have been using it as a gaming device for the last year or so with no issues.

Had it on my 3G before I cracked it and it's one of the reasons I'm in no rush to fix it.

I don't really care about the aesthetic of a cracked corner.

Just watched a 10 minute video on how to do it and now am ordering the part! Should be no surprise that AT&T wants $100 to fix it AND I would be without the phone for a couple of days!

You need a protective case if you are prone to the dropsies.

Cool case.

Also addresses something that I miss about flip phones. You can slide them onto the waist of your pants. Built in holster.
