15 years ago today.
15 years ago today the City of Oklahoma City, and the entire country was altered in by an act of mass murder.
The building I worked in was almost exactly four miles away from the site. Our building shook so hard we all assumed a truck had smashed into the back of the building, or a major airplane crash had just occurred very nearby. The murderer was caught within the hour and was tried, convicted and executed for his crime. He never felt sorry for his deeds.

That's was a scary time. I was hoping it was some foreign born terrorist and surprised one of our own could do it.

I never really felt like it altered the US.
I think the effect it had on you might be greatly amplified because you were so close to the event. Or maybe i'm wrong. To me the event that really altered the US- and caused the OKC attack to begin with, was Waco. |

Yea, right. The whacko at Waco. Another dumb assed megalomaniac cult leader murders his followers buy setting fire to the place. Jim Jones used poison, David Koresh uses fire. Fire or poison, the followers of the cults are dead by the hand of the "prophet."
Go through the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial & Museum and you will see normal people visiting from all over the world. It is a very moving place. There is no debate at all about what happened. The whacko museum is only on the internet and in the minds of conspiracy nuts. It is right next door to the black helicopter museum. No doubt it affected Oklahoma more than any other place. The federal government set the place on fire and killed those people when the tear gas it was pumping into buildings full of children reached a certain density and ignited.
A simple fact. That entire raid was totally mishandled from second 1. Everything that transpired at Waco was the fault of the US Gov't. They could have picked Koresh up on any of his monthy runs into town for supplies. Or they could have called off the raid when the informant called in and reported that the Davidians knew they were coming. One does not launch a surprise attack when the enemy knows you're coming- it's stupid. Last edited by m21sniper; 04-19-2010 at 02:46 PM.. |

It is amazing how far things like that reached, I was a sales rep for an car parts company, one of our clients was in tears in the little town Keystone Heights, a 1 stop light town, her brother was killed and her little niece was in the day care
![]() A very sad day that reached all parts of this country....

Snipe, back off the wacky weed. You are getting delusional. Check out the real evidence, not the UFO web sites. I have bad news for you, bigfoot is not real. No aliens from outer-space are abducting Buba from the swamp and probing his ass. There is no Loch Ness monster. The contrails in the sky are not poison. Astrology is nothing but a scam. The cult members set the fires. Jim Jones made his followers drink the poison punch. Marshall Applewhite told his members that the planet Earth was about to be recycled and that the only chance to survive was to leave it immediately for the comet. He was almost as wrong as you

Totally agree. Do not agree with the later bombing but the govt cocked everything up from day one, even from Ruby Ridge on down, but we are supposed to sit back and take it while they kill others. Like I said, do not agree with the OKC bombing but is it any wonder that something like that happened?

I'd never join a militia...don't want to be that close to Federal agents.

Yea, we hear about militias all the time in Montana. I always want to ask those guys if they know any real history. George Washington put down a tax rebellion that we now call the Whiskey rebellion. Does any group of guys in camo think they have any chance against the US Army?

We didn't have the radio on at work on the day of the attack on the OK Federal Building. I worked for a commercial satellite (business, not home tv) installation company. We had seven or eight dishes on the roof pointing at various satellites. It was always easier to tell an engineer in the field what was playing on the satellite feed to confirm he had the right alignment (e.g. - Cspan on channel 9, etc). Anyway, we always had the raw footage coming in from different news feeds.
This came on. The helicopter was panning over the top of the building. There was no audio with this feed, just video. We all figured it was in some foreign country, then the helicopter got close enough to a car to see OK license plates... Started scrambling for some audio and found that the building had been bombed (and found out WHICH building). The roof on that building was a rubber membrane roof. We had contracted a local fellow (I still remember the guy's name after 15 years!) to install a satellite dish and had to go through quite an adventure to be allowed to place it on this rubber membrane roof. The corner of the building where the dish was had been destroyed. It was very surreal to see this from a helicopter's view of distance and then closer and closer, until I couldn't stand the sight of what I saw, and wanted to scrape the sounds of frightened, hurt people from my ears. I was sure I would never feel like that again or see anything like that in this country ever again. Guess September 11, 2001 proved me wrong... angela

I remember the TV shot of a first responder carrying a little girl out. Sad and shocking day. I had the day off and just passed my motorcyle road test. Wouldn't have guessed there would be an immeasurably worse attack in 6+ years.

We should remember these tragedies and remain vigilant
and watchful to prevent future human loss. I lost a good friend and several coworkers on that day. I will always remember Jerry and his kindness to others. |

I would remind you that, IIRC, all the Davidians charged by the US Govt were found not guilty of all charges by a jury of their peers. Every one of them, so far as i remember. Quote:
I, of course, extend my full condolences to the deceased at OKC, espcially the Children. McVeigh was no better than the gov't evils he was trying to fight against. Fighting evil with evil never really works too well. Why is it i'm an asshat? Because it still deeply troubles me that the US government burned a large number of American kids and their mothers alive on national TV? Quote:

The fact is, Janet Reno (under Bill Clinton) pulled some very aggressive nasty strikes all under the guise of "for the children" . . . and the children burned to death because of it. You can certainly make the point that McViegh was wrong/sloppy/evil/whatever in his retaliation, BUT, to do so, whilst giving a 'pass' (by omission) to the aggressive likes of Reno and company, is seriously lacking. --they BOTH had nasty tactics. ...w/ nasty results.

I'm not saying that what happened in Waco wasn't a tragedy.... I just find it disrespectful that you seem to think you have to argue EVERYTHING..... Glen started this thread in remembrance and respect of those affected. Not to argue about was a worse tragedy...
You bringing this into the gutter is what makes you an asshat... and I don't care what kind of slap on the wrist that gets me... I'm pretty firm on my stance on this subject. I know people that lost family in this... |

Sheesh, relax and note that this thread was 'brought into the gutter' long before I got here. Just look at Glen's ad hominem rant. Also remember that the day was also the anniversary of those who died in Waco - yeah, people had loved ones who died there too - you insensitive POS.
