"Unschooling"?

This new movement is for parents who are lazy and also idiots.

I saw that same video last night. Those parents are just asking for their kids to never go away.

Wow. It appears as though there are some elements of home schooling for the younger family. Those teenagers are going to be at a huge disadvantage. Then again they will probably just get a job "unworking"

Why get a job? Parents are taking care of their every whim. Why give that up?

Let's NOT have them brush their theeth....
He's four, he can decide for himself....

Home schooling under the right conditions is probably better than school, however, the operable word is "right".

This unschooling sounds like a way for parents to be hippies again.

I feel sorry for these kids, they are going to have a hard time fitting into corporate America. Sadly though, they probably will never consider that path and will instead find a new life in half-life

Since the mother knew the word "algebra" does her kids?

I don't know ... this sounds just soooo wrong!

I told my girls, 14 and 9, about this, and they immediately shouted, "Mike Teevee!" He's the one who doesn't go to school and says, "While wimpy kids read books of verse, I play 'Destroy the Universe'; no one has Nintendo games like me."

They've been rehearsing for a production of Willy Wonka. These parents are raising little Mike Teevees, Veruca Salts, and Violet Beauregards. My kids were appalled and felt sorry for the kids.

As the Oompa Loompas say about raising a spoiled brat:

You know exactly who's to blame
The mother and the father

new generation of burger flippers.

cause let's see....they won't get high school diploma, won't have a GED, won't get a college diploma.

so what jobs can such a person have? unskilled labor earning <$20k.

god this whole premise is like getting to me.

no you can't just pick up a textbook and start learning. that's whole point of prerequisite courses in college.

you can't learn electronics without physics. you can't learn physics without trig. you can't learn trig without algebra. so if today you wanted to learn electronics, you're going to have to learn at least 2-3 years of prerequisite material before even getting INTO electronics.

It's OK, there are plenty of hard-worknig taxpayers who will support them.

Oompa, Loompa, doom-pa-dee-do
I have another puzzle for you
Oompa, Loompa, doom-pa-da-dee
If you are wise, you'll listen to me

Who do you blame when your kid is a brat?
Pampered and spoiled like a Siamese cat
Blaming the kids is a lie and a shame
You know exactly who's to blame

The mother and the father

Oompa, Loompa, doom-pa-dee-da
If you're not spoiled, then you will go far
You will live in happiness too
Like the Oompa Loompa doom-pa-dee-do

Oompa, Loompa, doom-pa-dee-do
I have another puzzle for you
Oompa, Loompa, doom-pa-da-dee
If you are wise, you'll listen to me

What do you get from a glut of TV?
A pain in the neck and an IQ of three
Why don't you try simply reading a book?
Or can you just not bear to look?

You'll get no...you'll get no...you'll get no commercials

Not in SoCal, you pretty much have to be fluent in Spanish to work fast food.

The kids are in for a rough ride when a boss expects them to be at work on schedule and accomplish tasks. I guess thats making a HUGE assumption that they could get a job.

I feel bad for the kids. Parents shouldn't be allowed to "experiment" with the kids, the results can be too damaging.
