My first political bid..shot down in flames..
Well, my first attempt to join the ranks of political scum, didnt fair so well. My run for the local school board. The election was yesterday. I came in 5th out of eight candidates. Three seats were open. In a way it is a good thing, because the school budget got knocked down big time. So the new Board is gonna have their hands full. I'd hate to be in their shoes right now.
I'll give it another shot next yr.

Question...how many board members also belong to the teacher's union? That's often the case in Oregon. Of course, to claim neutrality, these teachers work in districts other than the one they serve on the board of.

bad night to try your hand at your first attempt. the people are a little ticked off at the schools right now. 60% of the school budgets got shot done yesterday, statewide.

Yeah Chris, my timing was a little off on this one!
 The two that took first and second, really put alot into their campaign. They held fundraisers, They had a big financial backing, which the rest of us didnt have. In all my yrs in NJ I've never seen someone dump that much into a school election. I dont agree with their agenda, ( they were on the same ticket) but thats a different story. But it was a well deserved win. Third was an incumbent which I'm suprised was reelected. Paul, a couple of the current members are in the teachers union, but in different districts.

Anyone thats in the union, cant sit on negotions, but yeah its still a conflict.

Great try. Glad to see it was Education that you tried for. Anything to shake up the Unions and Status Quo. I imagine this won't be your last try. Many great leaders have had to run several times before winning. Good luck next time.

At least you got out there and tried. I am attempting a grass roots effort in my county to unseat the sitting prosecuting attorney that is just doing a horrible job. My first political run. But I can't just sit around and complain.
