Oddjob, Joe et al: How is AZ holding up
More power to you guys. Hope AZ and citizens don't cave. How's everyone holding up? Do you have tough fellow citizens? Please ignore the idiocy coming from the Left Coast.

Unfortunately, most of the media is focusing attention on all the opposition to the new law making it sound much more ominous than it really is. F 'em, they don't live here. I fear that it will get overturned.

We're doing just fine. I can't understand what all this fuss is about. Seems the libs' new way to smear anything they don't like is to call it racist, though this law has nothing to do with race, other than banning profiling based on it.
I heard a radio interview with one of the protesters the other day. She said she runs a business that caters to "Hispanics" and this new law will drive all her customers away. (Gee, why would that happen unless they are illegals?) She said she's picking up and moving her business to CA. Oh no! Please don't. Stay! We want you here to cater to illegals!

Hmmmm...let's just undo the Gadsden Purchase...give back Yuma, Tusco, desert in south NM. Ask for interest at a historically conservative 8% per annum. On the original $10M purchase, Mexico would owe us $176,819,277,411,000.00....almost $200TRILLION..... Build a big ass wall with part of it. Use the rest to pay down the national debt.
There ya go...solve a lot of problems.

The whole aregument of "It used to be ours" is stupid.
Mexico was a Spanish Territory until 1810. Mexico became a country in 1821. Then, Mexico lost the Texas war for Independance in 1836. So Texas was "Mexico's" only for 15 years. The Texas settlers were fine with being part of Mexico, until Santa Anna declared himself dictator, like Napolean. The Country of Texas and the borders between Texas and Mexico were not entirely settled after the war. And large tracks of what is now New Mexico and other states were part of Texas. There was a movement in Chihuahua to become part of the United States, about the same time Texas was looking for admisssion. After Texas joined the Union, the US offered to buy the land West and North of El Paso, and set the border where it is today. This lead to the war with Mexico, Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo and payment of about 1/2 what was previously offered. So, the land of New Mexico, Arizona and California was bought and paid for with blood and gold. It is ours, like it or lump it. If you want it... ![]()

Our local rag devoted its entire op ed page to the issue today. They just about had to because their mail was overwhelmed with views on the AZ thing.
Anyway, opinions are about 10 to 1 in favor of the law and most state that it's nothing new, just reiteration of federal law. Now, what gets me is this is popular opinion. Popular opinion like the laws we vote for that are overturned by a judge. I want to know when the popular vote is gonna mean something. Anyone ever heard of a "fully informed jury?" Above the law and definitely above a judge. Are the voters not the jury? |

I was told sometimes the illegal young males get drunk, create havoc and death then go home to Mexico never to be heard of again.
Legit people have a hard time dealing with immigration overload. Who the hell wants to live a lifestyle being paranoid in a broken social structure. Either do something about it or move out is their choice, i think

That right there is the key to so much right now. So many have been playing by the rules, only to see passes given to soooooo many who are not playing by the rules. From Wall street, to the back alleys of Arizona, so many are getting bail-outs for their exceedingly poor planning/illegal behaviours. All with the blessing of an overlord who hopes the 'passed' will vote for more serfdom.

Every worker on a corner is not an illegal. I think the illegals know what to do for getting a job and exposing oneself is not the way. I get 2-3 a day delivering porch hangers. Hard to catch these guys. Domestics are hard to find as well; they are buried, not out of the street. Dishwashers and that sort of thing. Private drycleaners and laundries. You get the idea. The word gets passed around. Freshly arrived illegals don't wear Levis and a tee shirt. They still have on the clothes they typically wear at home. |
