Question Are carrots good for dogs?

both of the dogs I have love carrots, raw, we don't give them much and other than a steak bone and the odd piece of cheeze this is the extent of people food they get. Are carrots bad for dogs?

Our dogs are obsessed with carrots. Oranges too. I can start peeing an orange on the other side of the house, and with 15 seconds they are stampeding to the kitchen. When they hear the vegetable peeler, they know some peelings will hit the floor.

Onions and Garlic are bad for dogs, I don't think that carrots are bad for them other than the carrots possibly not digesting well.

My parents' dog loves bananas (peel and all), but I wouldn't say that's natural, obviously. I just think it depends on how strong your dogs' stomachs are. A vet may disagree with me though.

Google is your friend:

"Best Answer - Chosen by Voters: Are Carrots bad for a dog?
Hell no, they are great for dogs, even raw as treats instead of chocolate treats of biscuit treats. I had a doggy dietician attached to my vet, suggest that when i cook up their food, to add grated raw carrot after the food is cooked and cooled, its good for their skin and fur. Some fruits are good for dogs too, raw apple, banana, pears and basically any non acidic fruit. The only vegetables that are bad for dogs are any that are part of the onion or bulb style family, leeks, onion, chives, and garlic if given too much."

Too much and their poop might turn orange

I used to feed my dogs raw fruit and vegies.....they loved it. Then the wife started on canned food because it was easier. They got fat.....no more wife or her dogs, divorce does that. I got my own dog now....

within reason why not..
many dogfood co. claim to have 'veggies' in the mix..
mine like them and oranges as well...
while they eat the carrots..
it's juice and spit the orange pulp..
or eat a chirping bird alive..
followed by...look..
I can lick my own butt..

My wife used to make a fantastic beef, cauliflower, and broccoli stew for our dear departed German Shepherd. Even in her later years, when getting around was difficult, she'd jump up and trot over for a bit of broccoli.

Grapes and raisins CAN be toxic to dogs, however. Be careful!

Maybe you should see the Dr. about your orange pee.

Sorry that is just a funny typo.

Apples are fine, but don't feed him grapes, it can cause kidney problems.

my friends. SPCA types..she is the president of the marin SPCA. she feeds her dogs a mixture of chicken hearts, (or some other type of raw meat), brown rice or plain oatmeal, and a puree of steamed carrots. it looks like fear factor food. but her dogs are freakishly healthy. great coats, no tumors..low body fat.

My dogs vet told me that carrots are good for their teeth. My dog also, likes frozen broccoli. She also, likes a few sips of her dads beer. Her big, pointed ears and nose point straight up in the air when I pop the top. I've never given her too much, just a couple sips. she's been taught to drink responsibly.

Our vet has always told us not give our dogs cooked meat. Like he said, "when have you ever seen a pack of dogs sitting around a campfire cooking their kill".

Our male daschund started having thyroid problems right after he turned 12. For the previous 12 years he only ate to survive and to torment our female daschund. He would lie down next to the food bowl and it might take him 30 minutes to eat his meal. Now he is food obsessed. We give him some green beans and what I call hay, or the no salt, generic wheat chex to help him feel less hungry. It is funny to see the female just turn her nose up at the green beans.

Mollie

This gal of ours lived to be nearly 18. She'd pass up any type of doggie treat for carrots.

When she got up in the morning she'd check her food dish for her carrots....if not there......she came looking for you!!!!!

Really miss her. Had to put her to sleep Christmas night 2007.

Carrots everyday could be the reason for her long life.
