What happened here?
I'm going to see the Giants play tonight. I clicked on 'best seats available' or something like it for two. $352.50 including some sort of 'convenience fee'. Add in $20+ for parking and the raging blatant, flagrant, gougery for food/beer ![]() A $500 evening is not going to happen for this non-fan. Soooo... We're bringing a six pack and buying bleacher seats. And, baseball just isn't that cool. ( I don't really want to go ) ![]() Paying to watch millionaires play. ![]() Why do we do it? KT

I think when you get to the ball park and see the brilliant colors of the field, the lights and the uniforms, it gets better. But, the last time I went it was like 30 bucks a seat down the first base line and up more than 20 rows. Good foul ball territory if you want a ball.
No 500 dollar nights for me either unless it involves hookers and blow. |

If you compare today with say 20 years ago, baseball has gone way up in price, while hookers and blow has stayed the same or even dropped.
Which one is the better entertainment investment? 4 out of 5 johns agree... |

I think you can get H & B plus take in a game all at Dodger Stadium.

Evidently you've been hanging out in the bathrooms or parking lot at Chavez Ravine a bit too much...

And every year it gets more expensive. I share season tickets with a friend and go to 12 or so games every year. My close $20 parking spot is now $25. My nice cold $5.50 lemonade is now $6. The food is the same price as last year. The cool thing this year is that with a season ticket stub you can deduct $5 off the price of food at certain concession stands. Not a bad savings on food. Besides, ATT park is one of the nicest in MLB.

That's why we go see minor league. We can see the Indy Indians for about $25 for the pair right along 1st or 3rd baseline. I spend the rest on beer and brats. We have just as good of a time as seeing the "pros". It's also a smaller venue so we don't have to fight the crowds as bad. I think minor league is a better experience than major league. The best part is we don't even like baseball, we just like the atmosphere.

krikey trek, will they let you bring in a six pack? Only MLB game I've been to was a Cardinals game in the '90's, seem to remember nose bleed tickets were in the teens.

I took a girl on a first date last fall. We went to the Tigers' last home game....we were in the front row, right behind home plate. We ended up being on TV the entire game, which was kind of cool. The date was awkward, and I decided it wasn't going anywhere. (She is a doctor, spent the whole evening trying to start "cute" fights with me....and generally annoyed the piss out of me.)
Tickets: $690.00 Drinks beforehand: $30 Dinner at the park: $30 Parking: $20 Dropping her off at her apartment, and then flying back to Indy the next morning: Priceless.

I don't.
I've only been to one pro baseball game. (Braves) I went because the tickets were free, it was a NLCS game, and I went with a group of partiers. While the people were fun and such, the game was incredibly boring, with a few moments of hoorahs..it sucked. I have no desire to ever go again.. |

I'm cheap- I wait until corp tickets are offered and then take a trip downtown. Usually ends up costing whatever I invest in beer- which is always nasty at Turner Field regardless of the brand.
Was just down in Destin arguing with a friend who thinks baseball is still the national pastime. Attendence numbers are slowly slipping while the population is growing----

I quit following baseball when they cancelled the world series due to greed. Have not watched it on TV at all, change the channel if ESPN starts running highlights. I went to a minor league game few years ago because it was free.

Don't click "Best Available". Rather, look at the stadium seating chart to determine what section(s) you want and shop those seats. Case in point. San Diego Chargers game in November. I won 2 tickets from work on the Club level. Good seats yes but worth a face value of $300/seat...not even close. Just below on a similar level...without a roaming waitress and padded seats but equal view the seats were $110. That is NFL pricing.
I would never pay more than $40/seat for a Padres game but then we don't have Tim Lincecum on the hill. But it sounds like you're not appreciative of the game so why bother. You can watch the local H.S. game for free...or head over to your local youth baseball field. |

I am going to see the Giants tomorrow. Stub hub is the way to go, $25 for a ticket lower box reserved (plus $10 rape and pillage fees from Stub Hub).
There is nothing I like better than a nice day, sitting in a park, watching a game and having a beer. It doesn't get much better. I agree that AAA gives almost the same thrill for less cost. As for crazy expensive, how about an F1 race $567 for Montreal! |

Just got back.
Giants won. I paid $38 a ticket for lower seats between home and third. Parking was $30 ![]() This crazy thing happened. A ginormous dude, 400#'s plus was stationed/encamped right next to our seats. We were scouting our seats before the game a could see him. He was [i]covered[/] in food. As in, a mountainous food tray resting atop his mega belly and the fallout all over his lap. He never even stopped eating to wipe the crud off himself ![]() He had another bag of his stuff ( more food ) in our seat as well as some of his body, too. My buddy was in a state of disbelief. "I'm not sitting next to him", he says. I showed the usher that it would be impossible to sit in our seats without becoming his armrest. He agreed and let us sit in an empty pair of seat below. The ticket holders showed up. After that happening again, they gave us new tickets in a better section about 10 rows closer. KT
