Fan Tasered after jumping onto field during Phillies game

Fan Tasered after jumping onto field during Phillies game – This Just In - CNN.com Blogs

It may not be a surprise anymore when a fan hops the fence at a baseball game and rushes the field. But on Monday night a crowd of more than 40,000 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia witnessed a first - a fan subdued with a Taser after rushing the field.

Looks lime took it pretty well. I thought he was just pretending to slide headfirst into some imaginary home plate...

HunterVonWurst 05-04-2010 09:37 AM

Awesome. Hopefully that will teach him the difference between right/wrong. Obviously his parents didn't.

I was at the game...

The guy ran around for quite awhile, and juked the people chasing him a few times before they 'shot' him...

widgeon13 05-04-2010 09:45 AM

I'll bet that's the last time he does that. Good for the LEO.

These days you never know when someone does something like this, he could have a weapon and intend to do harm to innocent bystanders.

I'm sure he'll be fine but the ACLU will be contacting him for further assistance.

This has huge sporting potential. HUGE. Paintball? Pfffft.

nynor 05-04-2010 09:56 AM

excellent.

now if they'd just do that to NFL players when they celebrate their own awesomeness.

I'm guessing he provided more entertainment than the Phillies. I always enjoy watching drunken idiots run the field. Tazing him didn't seem "sporting". That's why the crowd booed. They wanted to watch him wear down the flatfoots. Good stuff.

I hope it hurt, a lot.

It was pretty entertaining. I don't encourage the behavior, but I guess I don't mind it either...

On the one hand, it's fun to watch idiots get tazed.

On the other, it's fun to watch cops chase guys around....tazers are too much like cheating. Now they can eat all the donuts they want as long as the badguy stays in tazer range. :(

Snipers in the stands.

I figured that was him running on the field.

nynor 05-04-2010 12:28 PM

nah. his hair isn't long enough.

Dottore 05-04-2010 12:35 PM

What is wrong with you people?

What is wrong with just escorting someone off the field? And if the officials are too fat to catch him—well maybe that's the problem....

Sometimes I think America is just irretrievably fecked....

I'm in 100% agreement. The kid was not threatening anything but the dignity of the cops who were having a hard time running him down.

legion 05-04-2010 12:40 PM

Yep. But don't think that one rent-a-cop's bad choice is in any way indicative of a national trend. (We're fecked because of the leadership. ;))

Yep. And what if the kid was badly injured. Or one of the rare tazer related deaths. Definitely uncalled for.

Plus, the "Drunk fan on the Field" beats the "Frisbee chasing dogs" every time. Why cut that short? I've seen some legendary fan chases that had 50,000 people cheering.
