Anyone have a Sharp Aquos TV?

They seem like a good deal. Anyone have one long term?

My father had one put in his office about six years ago. Great pic and still running strong, but I can't remember what size it is.

We have a higher-end 46" Aquos in our bedroom. We bought it new in 2007. It's been flawless.

Bought one a year and half ago. A year into it the picture would just quit. Had sound, but no picture. Not sure what the problem is/was. Went back to buying Samsungs. I have a Samsung flat scree I bought 10 years ago that is still going strong. Oh and I like the picture on the Samsung better!

My brother-in-law is a die-hard Sharp fan when it comes to TVs, since they "did it first". He does like the Samsungs, which is what I have. He is looking into the new Quanta, which looks like the next step forward with the Yellow color.

Samsung is on the top of the ratings right now, but that will probably change. All in all, you can't really go wrong with the Aquos overall.

I had one for just under three months. I bought a new Samsung at Costco and put it next to the Aquos. The Samsung was much better in all respects. I took the Sharp back to Costco that same day.

Careful comparing 'Sharp Aquos' to other Sharps or to other Samsungs
Just like John Deeres, there are Home Depot models and there are implement dealer versions - NOT the same. Costco, Sam's Club, Best Buy, Wal Mart all have different model numbers for same-size Aquos (and Samsung, and Sony, et al)

It's just like saying, "I had a Porsche once and it was GUTLESS, so I switched back to Mustangs"...... only to learn you once had a 914

52" Aquos, about a year old. Love it.

No complaints about picture, etc. except...
My receiver is several years old, Sony PS3->HDMI->TV->optical out->receiver = no surround sound with ps3 games, therefore, have to use tv speakers for games; Blu Ray movies are fine, just no game surround sound.

Good call. More and more am buying my big ticket items at Costco. Their return policy is nothing short of excellent.

Had a Garmin GPS that was having problems. Sent it back and they sent me a refurb. It died after a couple of months. Got another refurb. It lasted 3-4 months so emailed Garmin. Told them that I have had enough of refurbs. They usually are excellent at warranty issues but not this time.

Took the GPS back to Costco and they gave me my full purchase price back even though it was over a year old. Walked over and bought a new 5 inch Garmin GPS that ended up costing me $30 more than the refund.

Hard to beat Costco...

I have had 2 sharps. The first lost its sound completely, after a number of "repairs" it still wouldnt work. I got a brand new replacement and it has been working fine since then.

I have a high end 52", bought it 3 + years ago....been absolutely flawless!!! I really believe the Sharp Aquos is the best out there! I was at the CES show in Vegas this past January and was amazed with their new line up which incorporates yellow!!!

Do not understand why they arent rated higher....

One 36", the picture went out in less than 30 days. It was an electronics part.

Worst buy stated after 60 plus days of ZERO repairs, and I quote: A TV is a throw away item, even though you have a Best Buy service contract we are not going to fix it. We will give you $400.00 towards buying a new TV from us.

On the good side, SHARP jumped in and fixed the TV free of charge!!! They even came out and picked it up, brought it back in a couple of days. It has NEVER given us anymore trouble! We bought a 48"? for the in-laws as my father-in-law is having trouble getting around. They LOVE it. Not an issue!
