Just stopped by to look around at the Chevy dealer, who happens to be the largest Vette dealer on the west coast (so they say). 35 new vettes on the lot and the place was crazy busy with people actually buying cars and trucks!

The deal.... 2010 Vettes with 3LT options, 425 (?) HP $46,900 with 0% finance.
That's alot of bang for the buck, but NO I didn't bring one home!

I wonder how much longer the 'Vette will be around. The government owns 61% of GM stock...and the "greens" have heavy clout in the Government...

(edit) Point I should have made in my above post...although I passed a few cars on yesterday's Mustang run, nobody passed me. Would I have cared if a ZR1 or a twin Turbo blew by me? Hell no! They spent 4 times what I paid for the Bullitt Mustang...at that price level, they should be at least twice as fast. :D

The most fun pass I made? A prius running an Obama sticker...poor guy was doing all he could to keep me behind him...

Just got back from a day at the Oregon coast with my bride...the fun stretch was between Philomath, OR and Waldport OR on Hwy. 34...aka the Alsea Highway...so called after the river ithe road follows as the river snakes it's way through the Oregon Coast range.

I drove this stretch as quickly if not more quickly than I did in the old '72 911S...but in a lot more comfort.

I drove it both ways in my cheap Mustang Bullitt... Traffic was light. I'm content.

Off to bed now...a car sorely needs some serious cleaning...:) Maybe tomorrow...or the next day. Hell, it's only a Ford.

Next time try the road from Camp 18 up and over to Longview.

But you'll need a Porsche to truly enjoy.

Put a modern day DFI V6, 300+ HP (replace the "BIG IRON" pushrod) in the Corvette and even I might buy one, T-top.

It sits in the garage next to a BMW 535 with the auto nose wiper and EFSR (emergency fart smell remover). Even with twin turbos, DGI, 300 hp, iDrive and the really super duper bells and whistles of the Bimmer, we fight over who gets to drive the interior-climate-impaired Porsche.

For the "fun" drives I'd vote with you, my '78 Targa, but for cross country, Seattle to Memphis say, it's hard not to choose the LS400 over the '01 C4.

You're new. I had a Porsche. Got bored with it...(to shorten a long story).

There are high performance cars, luxury car, and compromise cars that will carry you in both speed and comfort over long distances. I'm enjoying this compromise car. It doesn't do top level in anything, but it does all things well.

Long may the 'vette vs. Porsches war go on...but considering today's political climate, I have to wonder how long the 'vette will be around. With Porsche now just a branch of VW, we can only speculate about it's future as well.

The engine is the best thing about the vette.

I owned a '67 FB, a 72 FB, and most recently an '01 V6 stick convertible.

Nothing about a mustang beats the new 911/996/997 series.
