Will paypal screw a seller on an overseas sale?
I have an item on ebay and a bidder with zero feedback is bidding. He has been a member since 2004. So...what if he tries to do something like deny receiving the item. Will he be able to get buyer protection and leave me high and dry?

Is your PP account attached to a bank account or credit card? If its a bank account, cancel the account and tie it to a credit card.
PP has been known to tie up (put a hold on) people's bank accounts for six months or longer even when you prove that you are in the right. As far as overseas shipping and checking that it was delivered. Sell something overseas ONLY if you are allowed to use UPS/FedEx or DHL that will give you a signature of the delivery. Joe A

Yes - this has happened to me a couple of times.
In both cases, the buyer requested surface shipping that can take 8-10 weeks and then reported me to paypal after 5 weeks. Paypal requested proof of delivery, but of course that wasn't going to happen for a number of weeks. They refunded the buyer his money and he got the parts a few weeks later. Paypal was no help in reversing their refund as they had already closed the case. In the end, contaced the local police and hired a local collection agency to recoup my funds. AM

Paypal is NOT a bank and does NOT offer bank protections. Caveat Emptor. Personally, if I can only pay for something through paypal, I do without that something.

I don't deal with any buyer/seller that has less than 10 transactions. Period. Saves a lot of hassles

I recently went though something similar with Paypal and an overseas sale. I faxed Paypal a copy of the Customs Declaration and the original postal receipt.
They gave me my money back after a few days. To be on the safe side, send it registered/certified. Request a signature. Do the most secure shipping the postal service offers.
