since yesterday, I also have gotten green bars - same shape & size -- most of the time it is ok, but happened again this pm

I spent all am at a junkyard, scrounging VW parts so did not have the joy of computer-dom.

I'll mess with the other end of the cable and pull the system apart if this continues. will try reseating the video card and pushing on the RAM chips too...

If it were the monitor or cable, Webby would not be able to show the bars in a screen-shot.

Was that a screen-shot of your desktop, or was it a photo taken with your camera?

Display adapter. It may be time to upgrade to nVidia's or ATi's latest Webby. If I still had a spare gf6800 lying around I'd offer it up to ya.
