Jim Richards 05-13-2010 06:37 PM

fallout from too many sniper threads?

dhoward 05-13-2010 06:38 PM

Vidja card....

Jim Richards 05-13-2010 06:39 PM

I have never seen a problem like this and have no serious answer. :(

Brando 05-13-2010 06:43 PM

Display adapter.

Update drivers. If that don't fix it, replace vid card.

dhoward 05-13-2010 07:00 PM

That's what I said.
Vidja card.

Open your online banking information and take another screen shot. I might be able to help you from there.

Its Karma for all the brown material he slings around...

RWebb 05-13-2010 07:17 PM

ok, it is defintely the video card & NOT the LCD display itself?

imcarthur 05-13-2010 07:25 PM

Probably not. A monitor will die completely usually.

Ian

You couldn't screenshoot a bad monitor.

RWebb 05-13-2010 08:34 PM

well it is ok now - so at worst, I have an intermittent problem

Joeaksa - if you are unable to conduct yourself like an adult in OT, then please stay in PARF

Thanks to everyone else for your help!

I would check your cable as well; if you have any kind of DVI-HDMI adapter or multiple cables strung together to your monitor it can be an issue sometimes.

We had a display problem on USS Lastship that was a bad cable, it was pink lines as well.

Global Warming caused it.

MysticLlama 05-13-2010 09:07 PM

Stuff like that is often caused by the memory getting hot, so sure, global warming is a fair answer. ;)

After hearing what the chief had to say about your intermittent problem, I'm inclined to agree with that prognosis. Did you check cable tightness? Any places where the cable gets stressed/kinked?

+1 Check the cable. Unplug & replug to make sure the connectors are well seated.

Cable or monitor would not show up in a screenshot, unless you used a digital camera to take a picture of the screen.

Gogar 05-14-2010 06:08 AM

Oooooh Dad's right I didn't even think about that.
