Boxster Spec racing, any experience?
I have spoke before about my disenchantment with DE's as of late. Those that have got into spec racing with Miata's, have any looked into the series with Boxster's that where mentioned in the latest Excellence? My biggest issue with the Miata is that it is a great series as long as you are competing with other Miata's. Outside of the that, they are very underpowered. The Boxster series looks like it is just starting and I don't think they have anything on the East Coast. Any information is appreciated.

There were a handful of SPBOX guys at our club race last year. A couple of them were very fast. I think the top one finished within a second or so of the lead E class car in a sprint race, and that was in the top 5 or 6 cars out of a field of ~35.
If I ever stuff my SC into a wall and have to start over, I'd definitely consider a spec Boxter.

Have you thought about E30s? I got the impression that they are cheaper to run than Boxsters, yet the series isn't as competitive as the Miatas.
GRM had a nice article a while back comparing some of the more popular spec series, but I can't seem to find it now.

Mike Harley (Emissions on PP) runs the spec-boxster, he's here in CA, they've got some great cars and fast drivers!
Find him here: GSR Autosport Announces Partnership to Extend Services in Midwest - GSR Autosport Community GSR Autosport and Performance Racing Group Announce Spec Boxster Racing Partnership - Free-Press-Release.com From what I've seen looks to be a very competitive, yet relatively affordable (if there is such a thing in racing) series... Good luck!

I'm not at my laptop or I would post the link to Mike's spec boxster website. He is associated with Porsche spec-boxster racing and his contact info is on the article. As is Andrew who is on this BBS as well. You can find both of them in the racing forum regularly.
Mike is Emission/man (something like that) and is a jounalist (recently was flown to Germany to review the Panamera for Autoblog. Andrew's is his name I believe. Either way, either guy can hook you up with the Porsche Spec-Boxster info... I'll post their link later. Cheers, Jason

Here's some Boxter-on-Boxter violence from our race last year
![]() ![]() Mine is the silver car, and the incident with the Boxters created a passing opportunity. And the reason there was a passing opportunity, is that the SPBOX cars qualified in front of me ![]()

I've purchased a lot of parts (for my 911 project) from the two Spec Boxster sites I belong to and the people are pretty friendly over that way. I believe there are some events on the East Coast because one of the guys I bought some suspension components from lived in Virginia(?). Of course, this all depends on your definition of 'East Coast' I suppose.

There is an article on Spec Boxsters in the most recent Excellence. Haven't gotten to it yet but I saw it in the TOC.
