Just made $150 selling some old gold cufflinks!

One of our friends had a jewler at her house tonight giving cash for gold and silver. Found some old gold cufflinks and decided to sell them - I figuered I could do worse or even better but that would mean I would actually have to develop the energy to reaserch out what they were worth and then negotiate - f+++ that. I don't even remember where the heck i got them - prolly rolled some rich dude in Newport!

So I took the money and left $150 richer and a belly full of cheese, crackers and Pepsi!

18k - prolly $600 list, lucky to get $200 if I put some energy into it. I figuer its found money. Lots of women there tonight selling off gold chains, rings et al from past relationships. The stories were priceless. I think that this particular type of home selling party is popular because its a cash back biz not a cash out biz, you can purge jewlery you really would never wear or want around and as an added bonus you get a chance to purge and memories and get paid to do it! Not the case in my sale but hearing some of these women talk I felt like I was at a revival!

The "cash for gold" places are just bubble opportunists. They buy this stuff for pennies on the dollar and then turn around and sell it to smelters who are getting $1200 an ounce or whatever it is right now. Easy money. Well, until the correction comes, which is anyone's guess when it's going to happen, but probably not too far off...

Do you know how much they weighed? I can get $27/gm ($42dwt) for 18kt. Of course I buy it for a bit less.

My dad invested some money in a business that bought gold. Said it was like making change. They give you $100, you give them $50 back. And everyone was happy.

Yup - prolly could have done better but would have required effort. They were stilling ideal. I never would have used and never will miss.

True that the business runs on opportunity and the margins are sick. Hay, thats what makes this country great!
