If nothing else, that thread has been spectacular at exposing very opinionated people who speak without any actual knowledge of the topic at hand... Good stuff for my ignore list ;-)

Maybe you should go for a nice swim in the ocean...oh wait, you're afraid of that too :D

I would remind you that i have more ghetto time than almost anyone here, and in ghettos far worse than anything out west to boot. ;)

Sooo many CA haters on this bbs. Politics really get you down that much? You might wanna take up another hobby. Log off from PARF sometime. CA or nat'l politics never bothered me that much until I started spending most of my time on Pelican in PARF. I am a conservative living happily in the SF Bay Area. You can too, just be a little more open-minded.

I've lived in a lot of places in CA; Victorville, Adelanto, Apple Valley, Santa Monica, Palms, Inglewood, Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village and Pacoima. Went to Santa Monica College and LA Valley then moved back to the SF Bay Area to finish my BS at the University of SF - talk about a beautiful college campus. There is beauty in CA, lots of it. Lots of ugliness too and very easy to find if that's all you look for.

Yep, couldn't agree more and echo HughR's post as well. I've traveled a bit around this country and I'm amazed at the resentment some/most people have for CA and it's residents. Most of these people have never been here for an extended period of time. Seriously, it's like i personally did something to them, like I'm insulting them by being from CA. Just b/c I was born and raised and live here...wtf?! I have a hunch why that is, but...

And you're right.

California doesn't have everything. But it's a huge and tremendously diverse place. Unless there's something very regional that you absolutely can't live without (fall in New England, hustle and bustle of Manhattan, etc.) it's the rare person who cannot find someplace to fit in in this state. Heck, if you categorically hate the entire state, that might be saying something more about you more than about CA itself.

That being said, anyone up for porn star karaoke? Try to find that in your local environs just about anywhere else. ;)

m21sniper 05-27-2010 05:27 PM

I have something rare and unusual that i cannot live without, which precludes me from ever living in Kalifornia.

Rights.

How about the right to live in a beautiful place and look at gorgeous snatch all day long, every day of your life? :)

Is it so wrong ;)

m21sniper 05-27-2010 08:45 PM

I do ok in the snatch department, though i will readily admit LA has all the hot snatches that wish to be starlets. I would probably lose my mind there in that respect.

Porsche-O-Phile 05-28-2010 01:52 AM

LA women are not that impressive to be honest. Yes there's a fair amount of eye candy, but most of the hot ones know it, obsess over it and expect guys to fall all over them because of it. Very shallow. And for every nice one there are 10 porkers.

Honestly I think the best/hottest girls I've ever seen were from AZ. Plenty of very hot, tanned, hard-body types (I think living in the desert encourages people to not overeat and to to be a little bit healthier in general due to lots of Vitamin D). Not nearly as full of themselves as LA.

Northern CA girls are pretty nice too, and there are exceptions to every rule, but generally speaking I think the notion that "LA girls are hot" is grossly overstated.

Hmmm, sounds like a challenging prey animal, says the wolf. ;)

You are moving to the Ukraine? :)

According to this just released list of "best cities in the world", Philly is the 6th best city in the CONUS, and #55 globally.

World's Best Places to Live - Yahoo! Real Estate

"European cities take seven of the top 10 spots for quality of life, thanks to their relative safety, political stability and cultural offerings. As for the U.S., Honolulu, at No. 31, has the best quality-of-life record and the continental U.S. makes its first appearance on the list at 32, with San Francisco tying Adelaide, Australia. Boston came in at No. 37, Chicago and Washington, D.C. tied for 45th place, and New York ranked 49. Philadelphia and Dallas were ranked for the first time this year, landing spots 55 and 61 on the list, respectively."

Clearly the author of the list has never been to North Philly.

Joeaksa 05-28-2010 11:40 AM

Vienna, Zurich and Geneve are the top three???

My God guys, those are three of the worlds most expensive places in the world to spend time in.

Think I will save my money and stay where I am! :)

You are out of your F'ing mind. Southern California girls are the hottest in the USA, hands down. No other state even comes close.

I complain about the taxes, the overcrowding, the drivers, the politics, blah blah blah, but NEVER about the SoCal women.

Complain all you want about other things but F'ing admit it, The women in SoCal are UNBELIEVABLE.

Massachusetts women??? You may as well commit suicide now and get it over with.

Well, the unthinkable is happening.

Short short version.

Two years ago, I was hired as a corporate investigator at a large pharma company on a temp to perm basis. There was a hiring freeze that I was told would last no more than 6 months.

Also, at the same time, my wife recently graduated from school as a RN and got a good job in an ICU ward in her home town of Manteca, CA. We argue. We fight. We compromise. We agree that it's not worth quitting her job to move to PA to take a 30% pay reduction for what amounted to a flaky contractor job for me. So, wife stays in CA, I stay in PA waiting to be hired internally.

6 months pass. 12 months pass. 18 months pass. I continue to buy time, make arguments. The carrot continues to dangle. This is all compounded by a deeply seated hatred for California. I cannot imagine living there. The politics and generalized social philosophy are incompatable with what I want out of life. So I keep at it. "I'll be hired by Christmas", "They're offering me Senior Manager", etc.

Well, last Friday the shoe finally dropped. The NA Security Director met with me and in no uncertain terms told me all hiring for support people has been suspended indefinitely. Dream crushed. Door closed. Aspirations kaput.

So, following the bargain I made with my wife, I am throwing in the towel and am leaving PA for the PRC as soon as I can organize my retreat.

You people will see ****ing CLAW MARKS across the United States. Evidence of my passage, kicking and screaming. I've got a current passport. Hopefully I escape the anal probes as the border checkpoint.

I have to sell or store most of my firearms as they are illegal there. I have to figure out how to move my possessions to the desolate wastelands of the central valley. I have to learn how to play ****ing tennis with my father in law. And I have to figure out what the hell I am going to do for work in the occupied zone.

I am not happy but love my wife too much to separate based only on my loathing for her home state.

Alas, I am the sum of the choices I've made in life.

I'll be in the bathroom sobbing if anyone needs me.

The acid test of a right-winger used to be hatred of Communists. Now it's a rabid loathing of taxes. The tax cut cult has become the Right's high priesthood~

ON THE OTHER HAND....

The People's Republic Of California DOES crawl under your car each year and inspect your catalytic converters. They don't do that in Florida. In fact, down here you can probably mount a Pratt&Whitney PT-6 under your Porsche's hood and register the car without a second look from the local DMV. There really is something to be said about a conservative government. Once in a great while~

N!

Son, you need to visit Texas sometime....

Given the choice between the two, there would be no choice. While the ladies in SoCal are cute they are in many cases "high maintenance" which I have absolutely no use for at this stage in my life. Have found that the ladies in Texas are no where near the same and just as good looking if not better. As well they sure know how to keep a many happy, and not just how to use his credit card.

Now if you want to open things up a bit, the ladies of Moscow and especially the Ukraine are simply drop dead beautiful. Just had a friend of mine from SoCal visit Kyiv last week and I set him up with a guide to show him the area. He emailed back four days later that he was seriously thinking of leaving Kalifornia and moving to the Ukraine... and that it was because of the ladies.
