Grass Hoppers for dinner appetizer

I went to a new (to me) Mexican food place for dinner last night. They had grass hoppers on the menu. They were dusted in chili powder and lime juice.
I gotta say, for never eatting bugs before...they were quite tasty.

Nice! I've had what I assume were grasshoppers (maybe crickets?) sold as street food in Bangkok... not bad, but I don't think I'll be seeking them out any time soon

Lose the wings and the big horn and I might consider it. I agree with you on the whole cooked part. I don't know how Bear Gryles (sp) does it. That guy will eat anything it seems. :O

i searched vietnam high and low for rat. i just wanted to say i tried it. apparently, there is a season for rats. during the rice harvest, when the water is low..the rats (field rats, not sewer rats) come to eat the grain. it wasnt the right time..a local told me not to eat them out of season..he suspected they cooked sewer rats, for stupid tourist..err, no thanks.

I had a whole deep fried soft shell crab last night... not all that different.

And don't get me started on fried shrimp heads!
