You know you don't ride your motorcycle much when.....

I'm always up for some public humiliation.

Beautiful fall day here in Seattle. Took the Duc for a spin around the neighborhood. An elderly lady was exiting an alley ahead in her car, and it didn't look like she saw me. I easily had time to stop, but I figured I'd bump the horn to wake her up. I hit the button for the 'horn', but it didn't make a sound. The engine died though.....I hit the kill switch. What a dumbass. Yeah, who's the bigger menace, the old lady, or me? I'm thinkin' me.

Cheers

Horn? Modern bikes have horns? I though they all just pulled the clutch and rev-ed the engine?

Sure, the sun peaked out, but the leaves on the ground are still a sloppy, (spilly) mess. Be careful out there.

I never use the it, usually take them off as excess weight. When the drop down menu for action pops up I know honking the horn won't be one of the choices.

Ha! Speaking of kill switches, I had the fairings off in a 2 hour no-start diagnosis on my daytona.

Yep.

My bike was dead too. Multimeter was saying I had 12.5v, but the relay kept clicking. Pulled the battery, raced up to Ducati Seattle for a load test. Toast. Had new battery in bike in less than an hour.

The 748 won't start on 12.5?

I guess I can admit I rode my wife's SV650 a while back and couldn't get the thing started after a stop at the store. I was going crazy since the bike was almost new and couldn't possibly have a starter problem. Sure enough the run switch was on off! Duh.

Well, at least you didn't get hit, little old people are good at hitting gas pedals when trying to hit the brake..

I had a wonderful ride down to Carnation through the Snoqualmie river valley yesterday afternoon after work. New chain and sprockets, main jets bumped up two sizes, new front rotors and tire, and we were rockin'. Lots of wet leaves in the corners, though. Someone didn't see them in time - there was a formerly nice R6 pretty well wadded up, sitting up on its kickstand all by its lonesome, on Highbridge Road. Yamaha yard sale collected up all around it in various and sundry piles. Hope the guy was o.k.

A battery with a bad cell can show proper voltage, even though it cannot deliver the necessary amperage.

Last time I hit the horn button on the Monster it stuck! I'm sure the driver whose attention I was trying to get was thinking terrible things as I went blaring by while trying to unstick the button with my gloved hand.

Your biggest problem is that it was a beautiful fall day in Seattle and you were only taking the bike for a "spin around the neighborhood" instead of the open backroads. I don't know how a 748 would be any fun riding around any neighborhood in Seattle.

I know some wonderful backroads just 20 minutes from Seattle - just ask Superman. Assuming, of course, all the wrecked Japanese squid haulers are cleared onto the shoulders.

Due to travel, and a lot of other bs, I haven't had a chance to ride at all in a while, so I decided I would ride in this morning on the Harley. Yeeeeah, it wasn't as warm as I thought i was going to be, and actually stopped for gas so I could throw on another layer.

Be careful! If you're not riding enough, you may need to brush up on your motorcycle skills. Just sayin...
